  1. Good thought Andy. Hang in there lads, we'll all be millionaires!
  2. Money talks, BS walks. Simple. If it pays to import firewood (or anything else), then it will be imported.
  3. Oh here we go. Get ready for a one-stop tree removal and grind service coming to Largs in the very near future....
  4. Some good advice already. Take it. Especially Rupes! Looking down and seeing a groundie on the phone is surely one of the most annoying sights in arb. Learn as much as you can, but don't spew it all out at experienced guys before you know what you are on about. There are some great vids on here, but nothing I'm aware of from a groundies perspective? That would be a good vid, headcam of a good sized rigging job from a groundies view (in tandem with climbers headcam). Good luck with it mate.
  5. I can't surf to save my life, but love it and want to do more. Bodyboarding suits my physique better! Got into the scene more after reading Occy's biography when I was in Oz. Thanks for the link Ady. It freaks me out a bit to think that Andy had survived some monster waves and moments, then was taken by a horrible disease. He'll be catching some good stuff up in the sky, for sure.
  6. Vent for me please Justin. Can I have 'Maverick' across the front?
  7. Just found out that surf legend Andy Irons died last week, at only 32. Possibly of Dengue Fever. Really sad. He was a great rival to Kelly Slater. RIP Andy. Time's up, dude.
  8. What are the main advantages of single line climbing like this Kevin? Apart from only having, er, a single line, if you see what I mean? Ditto Darrens post above, I am keen to learn more!

It also depends how much work you can get through. 2 decent experienced grafters going flat out can achieve a lot more than 3 cockney builder types sitting in the truck reading The Sun for half the day. Also depends massively on kit, proximity to tip site etc. I shouldn't be on this thread. I undercharged for years!
  10. Rupe, you're a weirdo.....
  11. My Dad's got one, and potters about in his shed splitting gnarly stuff (he's 75). Powerful, but way too slow to consider commercially. Chucking a stop log in beside the ram allows small logs to be split, although the instructrions forbid this.... Better putting the money towards a cheap electric one IMO. They start at around £200.
  12. Why is this thread in 'Rigging and Roping'? Surely anything to do with the Sugoi should be in the 'Large Equipment' forum?
  13. Thats a toughie Mark. I'm going Polar Bear, but it might only be a split decision on points.
  14. Good stuff Dave. Could you hazard a guess as to the age? I bet that old stager could tell some stories, possibly even more than Josh....
  15. Very smooth. I remember your F8 Revolver vid, and liked that, but thought it was a bit too gear-intensive for my simple ways. This looks really good, but as others have said, I doubt every climber would make it look that good! I'm interested in learning more.
  16. Grizzly with a Husqvarna (unless it was the topper - I've got a foot in both camps as well Lorry!).
  17. Can't help you buddy I'm afraid, but just out of interest how much would that amount of rope weigh in at?
  18. In conclusion, we are all pretty much in agreement that workshy scum should not receive tax credits, but grafters on low wages deserve a bit of help. Now - Stihl or Husqvarna?
  19. Ditto. Not too clever on a 660 TBH.
  20. One of my farmer mates sent me this holiday shot, entitling it 'proper Aussie tree'. I replied that he would probably still expect me to fell and process it for about £300....
  21. Where is Dadio when you need him most.....
  22. Good point Steve. I would have a leisurely climb to the top, maybe have a beer and a spliff, descend whilst unspooling a reel of copper wire, and whack in a bill for £1500. Job done. Seriously, it sounds like an interesting spec. Can you get pics?
  23. That's a tidy job Dave, but I've seen it before. You have become really slack recently about putting up pics of your work. I know you find some of your own stuff boring, but to other people it is arb gold! That Ash we have just done would have you thinking - 1 day? Your techniques and kit are awesome mate, and we would like to see them in action more often. Give!
