  1. Watch you don't meet Bullocks, heading into the badlands there mate!
  2. Love it Drew. Ash is more susceptible than frost than most IME bro. Third/third/third cuts on the heavy, icy laterals ey? Tell Dan Mac to give me a shout re his L200, or I will perform said cuts on him. Climb safe. Send Dan up.
  3. I might bite the bullet and get a new one on the drip when I've paid the Tranny off. I love mine, but the legal weight thing is becoming more and more of an issue. There are more VOSA people round now than paramedics and coppers! Be nice to have a long warranty on something as well. Doesn't help you much at the minute though mate. Doubt anyone will sell their 4x4 up there for a while! My Dads just been on, he lives near Otterburn but further out, and he reckons the snow on the tops is up to his beard! He is short, mind.
  4. Just looked at that shot again Buzzsurgeon. It really is that good - well done Chris as well! Talk us through it mate! Wing cuts, fast through the back? Bet it was a bit badoingy (*) when she went off! (*) - nicked from Stevie Blair, love the word!
  5. Mint Ady, I'll be nicking that one. Landys are great off-road (probably because most stick off-road tyres on them), but I've only used doggy old Defenders, 110's and 130's, and the crap build quality of the door seals, locks, wipers and heaters would put me off buying one. I'm sure the Discos would be a lot better in this respect.
  6. Just moved from VT to Michocan with Hitchclimber. Not quite as smooth, but locks reliably, which I felt was important in these slippy conditions. I think it probably will be smooth when I buy myself a new rope for Christmas. My old Yale Fire has more nicks than a blind fishmongers fingers, and doesn't smell much better. Be a shame to shelve it, mind. We've pulled some big trees over with that rope.....
  7. Saw a really nice Mitsubishi L200 super cab (seats in the back - or more importantly storage for gear) at last years CLA Game Fair, with a 130 sized bed. Would be excellent with the right tyres, but it had just come out in 2009, so you won't see a cheap second hand one for a while! This was made by Mitsubishi, not a conversion.
  8. You'd still have climbed it though, wouldn't you mate? Like your style!
  9. Always nice to see someone reading the whole thread....
  10. Awesome shot mate. And muchos cojones!
  11. Is that wishful thinking Big Man, or do you mean border?
  12. Barely half an inch here, and massive traffic problems already. Took nearly an hour to crawl to Rye this morning, normally 20 minutes. The standard of some of the driving has to be seen to be believed. Rye was also full of pensioners walking on the roads because the pavements are too slippy!
  13. Probably got through plenty of lube, mind....
  14. Climbed today, but couldn't get the truck and chipper onto site because of an icy hill! Had to drop all the gear off, leave the rig at my mates garage and walk back through town with the dogs on old climbing ropes! Did alright, considering, everything is ok apart from my hands. They have crap circulation, and with chunkier gloves on I have to grip harder, which kills my forearms. Still had to come down more than I wanted to because my fingers were icing up. I'm going to buy some heated mitts to take up with me. I won't be able to work in them, but I'll try clipping them onto my harness and shoving my hands in them whenever they get too cold. Got to try something. Prefer ground work and logging in the snow, but it doesn't always work out like that. Time for loads of brews and a scorching bath!
  15. Stihl pro combi. Accept no substitute.
  16. Do this every fill. The both petrol and oil no spill spouts here, really rate them. When full, my combi-can is now worth more than my saw!
  17. Good link mate. Awesome gloves. Alex, mini crab/throwbag - on my harness.
  18. Hide the truth by saying you've been sheep-bothering.
  19. Sawpod. Caritool clip. Ladders.
  20. Nice. Next time I'm going for a load of hideous connies being mutilated with a gypsy-stick. Tell it how it is.
  21. My post was aimed at Swinny and Grumpy Dave. I also price an 'enjoyment' or 'hatred' factor into each job!
