  1. Cracking shots Liam. Looked like she came over no bother. Love the use of cord from limbs to prop the butt off the ground so your Grandad could rip it. Timber looks nice, too.
  2. Yup. I was joking about the 50kg! On bigger jobs it's over a tonne though, because a fair bit of the gear will be on site and only one in the cab. Still a poor payload, TBH.
  3. It's all burnable when dried correctly. Longevity and heat given off will obviously vary. That stupid old firewood rhyme must be responsible for millions of tonnes of logwood being binned every year! For the record, I find 'Ash green' to be crap, certainly not fit for a Queen!
  4. Been through it with a magnifying glass. At no point is ANY kind of training mentioned! The fact that they were happy to take my money gives me condidence that I am insured. Sort of....
  5. Seriously it weighs around 2700 with all gear in and 2-up in the cab. It's frightening how it all adds up!
  6. 50kg. The groundie is a big lad.
  7. One way tipper here, so no, but you could undo three bolts and slide it out (would be difficult with 2 of them when full of chip). Any decent fabricator would have the ali in stock. Only 3mm. Regarding the HSE and fumes issue - I don't care. I don't like water in my fuel, and I much prefer the smell of 2-stroke to my groundies farts!
  8. Ali. All attached with bolts. Can take the whole lot off in 5 mins. Bulkhead board is ply, again attached with bolts, washers and wing nuts for quick takedown. Got sick of wasting money on ply greedy boards that look tatty after a few months.
  9. Here you go mate. Legal load capacity with groundie, gear and dogs on board is approx 50kg....
  10. Too much money at stake for straight answers mate. They have taken my money without knowing anything about my qualifications or ability. If I screw up and something/someone gets damaged, they can pick up the pieces. Because they have taken my money. Correct me if I'm wrong, Insurance Companies....
  11. Can someone please clarify the LEGAL position here? I have £5m PL and EL with a company advertise on this site who never once asked me for any qualifications whatsoever. I have paid 12 months up front, and can obviously prove this. If things go tits up, a limb breaks, I slip, an accident occurs - AM I INSURED? No speculation please, like Huck, I'm sick of all the crap talked about ' your ins. co. won't pay if you were dismantling without 41 etc.' They have never heard of 41! The truth is out there!
  12. Welcome Jammydodger. Loads of good advice on here mate, about all aspects, including the stress thing. At 33, you are a but a sperm compared to some of the old relics still throwing their semi-fossilised bones round the canopy on here. And I include myself in that select group....
  13. Thanks for all the input, not too many negatives so far it would seem. Can't get the BFG AT's as cheap as I thought, has anyone got anything to add if the thread title was 'General Grabbers on a Transit' ? Seriously thinking of going for it now, it's only any dramatic decrease in mpg that would put me off.
  14. By Tullys post. No offence Dom!
  15. Egs will try and get some pics up tomorrow.
  16. Massive talent there mate. What wood is the shark attack? Bet it's something quite snappy.....
  17. That's how I see it too. The shake widens as the compression is released. That defect was clearly there before you felled it. Could have been a really funky 50% reduction....
  18. I would be sitting at home in the warm in this weather even if I had a skidoo! It's not so much for snow and ice, this weather is pretty rare here in Kent, although better tyres would have helped a bit at the beginning of the week. It's more for some of the sites I tip chips at. Tends to spin the wheels a lot on wet grass etc., I'm not intending to dry and drive through any depth of mud or pretend it's a 4x4. If I did that, as Stevie pointed out, I would end up getting stuck more, not less! Has anyone tried AT's on something other than a 4WD?
  19. Has anyone tried BF Goodrich All Terrains (or similar) on a Transit? Not trying to turn it into an off-roader by any means, but a bit more traction in certain situations would help no end. Just wondered if anyone out there has ever tried it, and how was tyre wear, mpg, road noise etc. affected? Or is it even possible? Have sourced some for £100 each, so would be £240 more expensive than the £60 cheapos I currently use (double rear wheels, maths fans). Thanks.
  20. He's a bloody harbinger of doom, he is! What's next on the weather menu Peckerwood?
  21. There comes a time when you just have to accept the fact that you will get no work done, chill out (), and enjoy the time off. I'm going to kick off an Arbtalk virtual snowball fight right now. Get in! Just got Justin with a big exploding powder ball to the back of his beanie! Half of that has gone down his neck!
  22. Good size back on that Steve. Could you put the dimensions up please mate, in English and foreign, if you don't mind? My DC Transit, level, is 2.3m3 or just over 85 cubic feet..
