  1. We should remember we are having the worst winter for a century. The transport situation could be sorted by spending lots of money on equipment, staff and infrastructure (and education), like they have done in Northern Europe. Is it worth it, though? It doesn't really happen often, especially here down south. As Stevie and Lorry have said, if you can stop and home and have some fun, you don't add to the problem. Too many people skidding about making 'essential journeys' braving the blizzards to buy Christmas jumpers at Next.
  2. Can you put these wires in your hands?
  3. Brilliant Drew. That's some achievement. I'm disappointed they missed out 'drinking competition at Jonesies show', though.
  4. I will raise a glass to that Paul!
  5. VT on micro-pulley here. One handed tending and never let me down. Rope grab is good, until you slip and end up with your full weight hanging under a branch. As said, not easy to adjust then....
  6. What's Austria like to work in Sam? Same sort of stuff? Be interesting to here. Sorry for derail Matt. Oz rocks!
  7. Big stick mate. Good job. Welcome.

    Show?

Is the p-up/ sorry, show on next year lads? Need to sort my diary out.
  9. Noone wants any more red tape at the moment mate. If you sell good logs at market price, your customers will come back for more. If you don't, they won't. Word gets around. First time buyers - if you really do have so few friends that you can't ask anyone - you deserve green Poplar.
  10. No competition to Buzzsurgeons snowy Cedar, but a couple of mine. Pine subbing for Rob Broadley a year ago (?) and a small Oak on a Saturday, brush burnt on site, pub early doors. Bliss. The really good shots are in my memory. All the trees there are MASSIVE!
  11. Lost interest after he sacked the fit bird last week. Call me shallow John.
  12. Dean won't like being referred to as a Landscaper....
  13. Near Otterburn. About 22m north of civilisation (Ponteland - where I went to school). And they are further out than that. The car is still a mile from the house from the last lot of snow!
  14. Loads lurking though. Which is good in a way. Use the 'Search' option to avoid pointless 'Stihl versus Husky' threads and cover boring old ground before asking totally dumb questions. If they are safety related, ask anyway! Don't be shy, though. Always nice to have a new member introduce themselves. Don't be put off by complete lack of knowledge either. It didn't put Stevie Blair or me off!
  15. They don't call it The Romney Marsh for nothing mate! I wouldn't know mind. Use them foam logs myself. Wor kid was asking if I could take a couple of ton of logs up to Dad and Mams in Elsdon for Christmas! Be cheaper to post them!
  16. Go for it fellas. I am going to have to live this season vicariously through you two stalwarts. Apres shots as well please.
  17. Can't help any more than has already been offered I'm afraid Odd Bird. 32" trousers (Hiflex), size 9 boots (Haix) if you want them. I could put on a wig, some makeup and my best lady voice and offer to do the course for you, but it would be pretty embarassing if I failed it. Which I probably would, if I'm honest! Be careful with saws though. 30 is maintenance, so you would struggle if someone lends you an old dog.
  18. Want to give that puppy a go some day Gareth. What height will it cut? 30 feet?
  19. Spelling young fella. Hedge is clearly incorrect. Should be hell. That's H.E.L.L.
  20. Why not just spike up and get it back? Like the sound of this actually. If I don't like it my my harness, it could help pull my beer across a large table. Anyone got a pic/link? My PC is behaving like a sulky child tonight.
  21. Good job under the circumstances mate. That timber is heavy stuff. Lorry, I think Dean Lofthouse knows the crack with that resin stuff for the sides. He'd be worth a PM. Tell him I sent you, 'cos he knows I always operate at 3.49999999999tonnes, just like you in your original avatar mate! Ha ha.
  22. Thread title is best, mate, not cheapest! Stockbridge you are such a weak, small-armed little man it's hard to believe you can actually lift any wood onto your penis-compensating contraption.
