  1. Looked a tough tree with no good anchors. Hope you've booked that conny hedge in for a trim before bird nesting! Looked dark up your way mate.
  2. Don't beat yourself up Dave. The first cut obviously caused a bit of a tear, but the rest wasn't too bad! That's a fair sized tree to many on here. Fair play to you.

Same as all the lads comments really. Mint saw.
  4. Nowt wrong with the car. There was that much snow on the steep bank down to the house, which then turned to thick ice, that it never thawed till last week. Proper out in the sticks!
  5. To me, one-handed use is part of arb. Like most things, it has it's time and place. Sometimes you can draw a sharp Silky, cut the branch and have it back in it's scabbard before you would have started an O20. Other times, you can't. What I don't like seeing (and still see a lot) is completely unnecessary one-handing. Hold with left-cut with right, drop. Repeat 300 times. You're in a field FFS, why not just cut the bit with two hands on the saw, seeing as you are just throwing it straight down anyway? Doh! You are a RSI statistic waiting to happen. Good luck with your short career! I want to climb into my sixties, not my thirty-sixes! Deano and I are going to team up and offer short courses in one handed chainsaw use later this year. I will be demonstrating 'how not to', Dean will sort the safe, efficient boring stuff. £500 each, refreshments after. Dates TBA. P.S. Discount for Mr. L. Thompson for his kind offer to sort my folks logs out in the snow, sorted now mate, ta. They got their car back down the road last Friday. First time since November! £450 for you pal!
  6. Thats what I heard! Wouldn't suit me, I think. Or Ross. He has the touch of a rapist.
  7. Speaking of crazy, you tried the Lockjack yet bro?
  8. Can't get link to work mate. Removed or privacy issue. Can you stick it on Youtube?
  9. All of the reports say he was cutting a tree. Seeing as it crushed him to death I doubt he was using Felcos.
  10. Big tree Andy. Nicely stripped out. Is that a 48" on the 090?
  11. Tragic, but there goes another 'death by chainsaw' statistic for the insurance companies and HSE. My mate is in a special rescue unit in the brigade, but admits even after training they don't really know what they are doing. Why not call in a local tree gang? You wonder how many times this is going to happen. It isn't always about money. My father-in-law and his mates are constantly defying the odds stunt-felling stuff off ladders etc. despite knowing I would do the work free. They just can't resist the challenge - 'look at us, we can still get a mans job done'. Darwinism at its cruellest.
  12. I'm off out to try some 'grabbing'.
  13. How do you do 3 hours before it's light? I've tried starting earlier, but it's not worth the hassle you get from the noise police!
  14. Thought about that Lorry, but I haven't got enough tats or bling for the clubs down here, and I don't have a Staffie.
  15. Have you checked for Tree Preservation Orders and/or Conservation Area issues mate? Pics would be good.
  16. Need to start running again because my cardio fitness is awful and I have literally developed a spare tyre round my midriff in the last few months. I have invested in some decent trail trainers after having 'gait analysis', as I prefer to run off road when possible. The thing is, I don't want to turn into a 'racing snake' and lose the upper body mass I have worked hard to build. Any tips or general chat welcome.
  17. Cheers Tully, and got your PM. Can't access at the minute (don't do Facebook due to stalking issues!), but will get my mate to access it tomorrow. Keen to try it, back on VT at the mo because Machocan doesn't advance too well on wet cruddy rope!
  18. Kerrrchiiiiinnng! Kerrrchiiiiinnng! Kerrrchiiiiinnng! More likely someone else will be asked to fell it when it turns into a fuzz-ball next year.... Cracking day though. Thoroughly enjoyed not getting p-soaked through for a change.
  19. TBH Mick, I didn't have my pole pruning set with me or I could have brought in some of the straggly tips and made it look a bit better. Secateurs Rich style? By the time I get that far out the limb has broken!
  20. Small Ash reduction from today as part of a general garden tidy. Spec was 50% RJ. You can tell I don't do them very often! Took about an hour. Dismantle would have taken about 10 minutes. What is the point of having an Ash in a garden the size of an average room? Never mind, nice day for it and priced it well. Kerrchinnnnnng!
  21. Bet that's got some grunt Liam! How will you know if the chain needs a sharpen?
