  1. How come you haven't posted your own Smooth Climbing vid on a SJ yet Steve?
  2. Good effort mate, but potentially burning 200 miles worth of DERV every day on a groundies wage is not a great business plan.
  3. Do you not think that the key factor lies in educating the public Tony? It might be some weird Kentish thing, but I'm getting sick of people saying things like ' I've got a tree that needs the top taking out of it' or ' My trees need a damn good pruning'. Where are they getting this 'information'?
  4. Nice one Matty. Most of my reductions look like that, mind! Make sure you get a pics up to see how it copes this year.
  5. Pretty much sums it up for me Matty. I fell some trees, I talk some people out of having trees 'topped' or felled. I sleep OK at night.
  6. Thanks Dave, that's exactly the look I was going for! Don't worry, the pic is doing the rounds on HotLeatherBoyz.com, but the lads on there keep mistaking me for SkyHuck!
  7. First impressions - worth spending the extra time stuffing into the chalk bag. Pic as promised.
  8. Man Experimenting With Pant-colour Stayed white-ish. Pure luck.
  9. Sweet bro, but I'm shaking just looking at it....
  10. Climbed on it today with chunky 13mm. It is a different thing stuffing it back in the bag, but I didn't lose my temper once. Can't wait for 10mm.
  11. My argument proved futile when faced with the intrusion evidence. I didn't argue hard. Tree had killed itself well within 50 years - who knows why? Suggestions for a decent replant would be most welcome.
  12. Dave, I said sensible option....
  13. Killed and poisoned. Drains knackered beside it, so it was condemned. Lovely spot.
  14. Huge cavity, MEWP was the only sensible option. Found a 200T's nest in the cavity. Can't wait till they hatch!
  15. Same here. Last time I tried it I got to about 20ft and actually reached down for my lanyard!
  16. Thanks. Cinch is neat, but I defo rated hitch/pulley over ropegrab on my 13mm.
  17. Thanks mate, I'll catch up after I get my 10mm.
  18. The money has already been invested and recouped. Manufacturers don't invent layers of kevlar every time they trot out a new pair of strides. Stretch Airs are brilliant, but the zips are shite and have been for years. My local dry cleaner lady didn't invest millions in working it out - 1) Find decent zip 2) Sew decent zip into trousers The whole R&D tune is getting a bit repetitive.
  19. Next time you're finished up a biggish tree with a bit of time to spare, stick one hand in a pocket and descend using the other one. Harder than it sounds sometimes. No cheating. Practice with both hands now and then. Even with a top rescue climber and/or 2nd access line, getting yourself down quickly will probably save your life more often than any other method.
  20. Compression seems fine, and has bullet proof for 3 years. Apart from the ridiculous farty-sound of the 4-mix!
  21. Frank, give us a bell and I'll send Steve round to carry it out on his shoulder.
  22. Thanks Gustharts, and especially Robert, for prompt service on missing nuts, bolts and spacers on my aging HS80. Rob, thanks for explaining where the spacers go - should have figured that out 7 years ago, but I don't sharpen the shears! I owe you a few quid and a beer at the show! Ta.
  23. Tried everything and had to stop before I broke it over my knee. Justin, will run it up to you as soon as I can. So Mick can break it over his knee!
  24. Touche Frankie. I'll catch you out one day, damn you! PS Do you know where I can buy some hi-vis Calvins?
