    Prices

Is that still 3.5t gross plated?
  2. There are loads of people in Norfolk that have. Do you want them to deliver it free as well?
  3. Makes the world a better place Dave, It bought a smile to my face. I'll tell you my M11 story tomorrow. No mystery, just haven't got time now before bed.
  4. Or just ascend SRT with a wrench then switch to ddrt at the anchor? As you're prepared to bend the rules anyway with the ascenders this shouldn't be an issue.
  5. Good. Thought it was just me.
  6. You really should consider politics mate!
  7. On domestics if you still want to price keenly you can just give a quote inclusive of VAT, which would be the same amount you used to quote. So a £600 job is still £600, but it's now made up of £500 + VAT. Good for the customer, who can't do anything with the VAT, not so good for you because you've dropped £100, but you can now claim back on fuel, tools, vehicles etc. so it's not too sad, and the domestics keep rolling in.
  8. When felling near a property I like to reassure the customer by telling them 'I've never done this before'.
  9. Bloke I used to work for liked starting big dismantles on a Friday. It used to wind me up. 'We'll have to leave it tidy for the weekend'. Great. Everyone loves doing the same immaculate rake-up twice.
  10. Do it late Saturday night mate. You might have an even rarer tri-battery model.
  11. Mine's a mark 6 double cab tipper (early 2006, the new version with the tall headlights came out later that year), and definitely has 2 batteries, unless I was seeing double.... Maybe dual batteries only on tipper version?
  12. No mate, you just need to rack it forward and slide the cover off.
  13. Cracking shots mate, and nice looking dogs.
  14. Remember you've got two batteries, not one. Beg/borrow/steal a multimeter, and check voltage across the caps at tickover. If this doesn't increase when you press the accelerater, the problem is alternator related. Similar just sorted on mine, £475 new alternator and batteries fitted. Batteries were 10 years old, I'd had my monies worth.
  15. Stu if I was feeding off 30% of your scraps and having the life I wanted out of it, that wouldn't bother me in the slightest! The commute would be a killer though.
  16. Too many to mention. A fair few I've met, a lot more I'd like to. From weeks of graft to little grains of wisdom, this forum has helped me on my way.
  17. Valid point. An hour-long round trip to quote an ornamental cherry reduction with Felcos (and she's getting six quotes) can take the same time as a week-long conny death-fest in a paddock.
  18. That's interesting Ben. I won so many more when I was smaller, apart from big jobs, but looking back I think a 'busy fool' element was in place! I pretty much know straight away now on 'cold' jobs if we'll be in the running. Lose out if they're too small to gardeners, or too big to bigger outfits with bigger kit. I'm happy with my niche. As Meatloaf said, 'Two out of three ain't bad', and I wouldn't argue with him.
