  1. First bluebells out in the woods. Perversely we had snow here today for the first time this winter.
  2. Maintaining a chainsaw is very much like making love to a beautiful woman.
  3. My wife hates the place. I normally have to bribe her with posh coffee in Morpeth afterwards.
  4. Grow a massive beard and get some really dodgy tats as well. Every little helps.
  5. I can assure you the alder in your yard is not softwood.
  6. Never a truer word Huck. Johny that's what Rich and I run, and there's not s tree defeated us yet, although a Hobbs/GRCS would be a dream sometimes. Anyone with a GRCS who wants a couple of days in with me and Rich in Charing in Kent in May PM me please. Reg Coates need not apply....😀
  7. Word. We do it for select customers, who are fully aware we'll mince off at 3ish or tough it out till 6 as the day demands. Nothing worse than mincing around with the blower and coiling ropes till about 5 while the customer looks at his Breitling.
  8. Try and contact some charcoal burners mate. There's a lass on here but she's in the NE so the haulage would kill it. Might be worth a PM like, for contacts? Elfinwood.
  9. Pretty happy with ours. Cheap and tinny it's definitely not! When you're spending top dollar, which they certainly are, I'd consider all the top brands. My mates have Morso, Esse, Hunter and others, and they're all good, but I've got no regrets two winters in. Apart from a towel rail and an oli rad in the twins room it's the only heating in the house, and we're toasty.
  10. That's not a particularly helpful post mate, although I get the sentiment.
  11. 5'8" 6'1" Scratching my arse has never been a problem. It's connected with 'Positive Ape Index', but that's different.
  12. I went to Uni in Sheffield Nick, and the place will always hold great memories for me. I'm in Kent now, but if I was closer I could surely find you a few days here and there. I'm not being funny at all, but maybe you need some help with your head first? It sounds like you'd be great on an 'up' day, but bad shitt can happen so quickly in this game if you're on a 'down' one. I apologise if this comes across as condescending mate, that's not my intention. I paced the streets of the Steel City for 6 months in 1993 before the offer of a bunk in a caravan and £127.50 a week saw me head south with an Adidas hold-all with some crap clothes in it. And here I am now. Yearning for the days in Broomhill and Eccleshall Road....😀 Good luck mate, keep on keepin' on.
  13. I bet it was fine till you cleaned the conny resin off it mate. Seriously, well done for doing your checks and spotting it. 👍
  14. True comment Dave, and some people seem to price big trees for silly money just for the glory and the kudos. I speak from experience here, realising I've made about £75 profit after 3 days of nerve-shredding toil whilst driving home with the final load of 8m3 of dust and rakings.
  15. It's mental isn't it? I'm a pretty small bloke but usually have to buy L stuff. Apart from johnnies, obviously.
  16. These are pretty comfy, and reasonably priced. Not used them with spikes yet mind.
  17. I thought it was simply based on how expensive the house is and how skint/flush you are when you go to look at the job?
  18. Fancy going halfers Johny? I reckon we could fit a sofa on the roof cage.
  19. It's probably Hornbeam, like.😀
  20. We took a few down a while back, and the bark was pretty similar. Whatever it was grew quickly, look at the spacing on the rings.
  21. Populus x canadensis. For once I'm not taking the proverbial!
