  1. My years of hard work appear to have paid off! I'm off to do a 70% reduction on a TPO'd birch.
  2. Conspiracy theories don't exist.
  3. It must be catching Gary. Efficient and helpful service from my TO again this week.
  4. Using a Prusik is like like using a bow saw. You should know how, then move on.
  5. Funnily enough a local youth who is a neighbour has just gone down the same route. Big strapping hippy lad called Rob, who is now called Rose. Definitely not moobs, these puppies are fairly impressive. It’s quite an embarrassing situation really. I need to have a chat with him really and suss out what the crack is. I just say hello at the minute and avoid using a name.
  6. Is it not massive mis-selling then?
  7. The only time I can see it being remotely acceptable is if every single bit of council tree work has been completed and blokes would literally be sat around with nothing to do if they didn't tender for private jobs.
  8. I need to find one that sucks up gold.
  9. I know mate. I’ve pretty much given up slagging off reductions anyway, you never know the back story. I’ve also been guilty of some utter atrocities because I couldn’t talk any sense into the customer and I thought the money was better off coming my way than someone else’s. Principles and a £5 note will get you a pint of Stella etc. etc.
  10. No one has slagged it off or said it’s crap work though Mick!
  11. Just got in from a job we started at 8am. I had £70 on it.
  12. Well answered for me Steve. If we hit a recession there are easier ways to go out and earn £50.
  13. It might be nonsense Eggs, but there are plenty doing it, including down here in Kent, which is expensive. Stuart has already mentioned the SE/PAYE thing Ben, to save me doing it, but I totally get the gist of your post.
  14. As long as people will work for it people will carry on paying it I suppose. Not exactly a sustainable business model for a genuinely self employed groundsman though.
  15. You should stay off that rake Mick. It’s ageing you badly.
  16. We don't know what the training is. It's a bit of a generalisation to say that anyone undertaking any training is unskilled. And £60/day SE? £60/day is minimum wage for PAYE.
  17. Same, and chain brake off. Not an issue like, you just need to master it.
  18. I only do 5% reductions 5% left?
