  6. I'm glad you asked David....and my final entry of Chapter one.....at this point I would like to say that I would like to dedicate the chapter to my very Dear friend Derek....last time I saw him I was leaving City Suburban and he was still there....I left that part of London and moved to kew so I had not seen him for a year...then,a couple of months ago I read a truely sad post he put up on Facebook...in March he developed a very serious infection which led to vascular problems and in order to save his life they would have to remove his legs............yesterday as I walked from Aldgate East tube station towards his flat I remembered all tbe great laughs we had and knewwathe had gone through would he still be the same person?....of course he was!:) he is as strong willed and positive sbout life as I am...I found him still grinning, laughing and positive that he will be climbing trees again one day...and I'll be there with him!....so as my thread accelerates past 200, 000 i dedicate this thread to my very good friend and one Very brave Man!

  8. No Al...I chained my bike to a cycle lock and went home to get my bags....got the taxi to kings cross and pushed bike and trolley the short distance to the train:) the ladies in the picture were nice...but I prefer oriental women as you know...
  9. At last...the voice on the radio is speaking English! And in my own dialect:).......where was I?...ah yes...my close mate D. I first met Derek at the top of a large London Plane tree in Chiswick...we were re-pollarding it....he had the same enthusiasm for tree work as I did wss as hardworking as I was and the same determination and self belief that I had so we hit it off well...in fact he helped me when I hit hard times and provided me with food and shelter during my first year in London....spent many hours discussing technical aspects of tree surgery and enjoyed a few beers with a Rum top and listened to great music as well as a night in Shorditch which is a very vibrant part of London night life!...so it was to Dereks place that I went to during my lasts hours in London to say goodbye....here's a few pictures of the big man:thumbup::thumbup:
  10. So what happened during my last day in London?...so here it is!...the very final episode of Chapter one......woke early and after coffee and chocolate muffin I visited the Barber...said my goodbyes to the bedsit where my thread began and to the banana tree that I used to gaze upon from my window....wanted to cycle to Kings Cross with my stuff but it was just impossible...too many bags:rolleyes:otherwise I would have....took the tube to the station and locked it up....there is one last (and most important) person to say goodbye to and before I returned to kew for my luggage I payed him a visit....his name's Derek (Deego)....the importance of this friendship will soon become apparent.........................
