    Quality Tree Care

  2. That kind of highline system creates a lot of lateral forces on the anchor trees, and it is hard to get enough tension to control the sagging.

Would a load transfer/drift line using the same two anchor trees work?

You could use a four way fiddle block for this.

  3. I have new type not paper and I have C1E - and if you get a book from DVLA No D100 it tells you that

with the above you can drive up to 7500kg with a trailer over 750kg as long as the vehicle and trailer is not more then 12000kg. As long as the weight of the trailer is not more then the unladen weight of the towing vehicle. CLEAR!!!!!!!!

  4. Not sure if this has been done before sure it has - But my son found this old photo of me from around 1985/86. Note Jeans, no helmet, bow saw, no leg loops, and what a climbing rope and self made pussicks!!!!! - Get the newbies on that.

Any way be nice to see some more.

    Regards

  6. been thinking about local papers and parish mags think it will all depend on the area we have expensive advertisement elsewhere which doin ok so maybe a couple of cheaper options like that would be good cheers

Parish mags are a good idea wont bring much work but very cheap and if they are local to you then it makes you look good. I have a couple around £50.00 a year. Local papers are good a lumpy money wise, but you can go in and out depending how much work you have. A good idea is to take a run of say 13 weeks but go in every other week, a lot of papers do that.

For me in north west kent south london - YP is best thomson ok.

  7. kevin what do you think of the bc150 i have one and can be unrelieble at times

Hi Sorry not been on the site for a while. I like it but a lot of lads dont. A bit high tec. But I think chips well quite easy to tow and move around. It does what is built to do. As most things parts are a little steep.

think if I was going to buy another chipper think i would go timberwolf after using one on a job a few weeks ago.

    Hope that helps.

  8. I have been thinking of getting a tablet type pc for quoting etc, but all around the 700 -800 mark and a bit bulky not good bat life etc. Did not rate the ipad but had some time over best buy in essex (great store) had abount and hours play with one looked at all the progams that I could use for work and not the games and I was surprised.

Think I am coming around to the idea. My kids love them of course.

Best network is g3 at the moment at 15 a month and you can turn that off when you are in a wi area, which around the london area is very good cover.

  9. Hi All,

Think should go in the wanted ad's but not sure anyone reads them. Have any of you got a BC 150 in your yard that has died or damged,

I need a fly wheel cover, PM me and I can explan more

    Thanks

    Wattie

  10. Hi looked this up for you at a flat rate of £100 a day then no. I know you have to pay vat on things you buy and it seems tempting to claim it back but it is something you should aviod at all costs a lot of work and stress if you do not put the vat money away to pay.

    Hope this helps.

    VAT registration threshold

If you're in business, you must register for VAT if your VAT taxable turnover for the previous 12 months is more than £70,000. This figure is known as the VAT registration threshold. The threshold changes - usually once a year announced in the Budget - so you should regularly check your turnover against the current threshold.

You must also register for VAT if either of the following applies:

you think your VAT taxable turnover may go over the threshold in the next 30 days alone

you take over a VAT-registered business as a going concern

  12. Not aimed at you John, but this is a really good example of why "subbies" are not sub contractors!! If you can't advertise your business because you are "representing theirs" then you are an employee for the day.

This ties in with what I have been sayign all along regards insurance etc. You are employees for the day, must be covered by EL. and therefore by PL.

    Sorry to derail!!

Spot on. I have employees, freelance climbers sub contractors and they all work for me on that day.

So I give them all NEW teeshirts, depending on time of year sweatshirts, fleese or coat. If they dont look the part they dont work for me.

I would never allow them to have own company number or company name on shirts etc. this also applies if they are carrying out work with there own truck and chipper. I also expect them to give my cards or phone number out if they are asked to quote or even look at job while on site. BECAUSE if I had not sent them there they would not get asked.

So i would ask them for new stuff as it is good for there company because image is everything these days.

  13. As most of you where awere we lost a good guy in January.
