Hi rich been saying that for years, to make profit to reinvest and pay fair money all local companies around our area should be at least £300 per man per day, then they would not be driving around with ageing lorries and chippers etc etc. Don't think that many of use are quoting that at the moment.
Well done for talking sence
Ps give me a call we are very busy if you have any free days coming up in the next couple of months
Cheers

Hi again
This is just a few photos of a tree in the garden of William Shakespeare's daughter's tudor home. She married the town doctor and was very well off at the time, the house was grand and full of history " yes how interesteing just does not float my boat" so out to the garden I go to find this 150 year old mulberry which fell over in 1962 and various things done to save it.
So enjoy the photos and love to see your views. I did notice that they where a lot of mulberry's around the town in a lot of the tudor properties
Cheers

Hi All
Had a nice few days away this week Sunday to Tuesday to Stratford upon Avon with my good lady, and a very nice time was had by us both, lots to see lots of sight seeing and lots to eat. Of course like all us tree guys had to cast my eyes over the tree along the river and chruch yards Etc.
Out side the royal shakespeare theatre and to the park at the side which slopes down to the river I noticed two chestnut WITHOUT LEAF MINOR, a first for me at the moment. At first i was thinking that the single tree outside the theatre as it was on it's own away from any other chestnuts that it was not affected by the moth. Then i noticed the second tree which again was the only chestnut in the park which was also clear,
So tree surgeons of stratford or anyone to be honest why would these be clear when the whole county seems to be affected
i attach a few photos
Cheers

What's the name of the tree height app? Is it "how far how high" or "iHypsometerPro"?
Any other good iPad apps??
I've been trying to find an invoicing app which is compatible with a desktop (mac) program so I can invoice customers but keep the same layout and invoicing numbers.
Sorry can't recall I came across it when looking for a plan drawing app. I will look again

Hi mate, I use an Ipad2 for most things now, get Docs to go which will allow you to transfer documents between emails and your desktop pc. The only downside so far is the lack of flash player which can make online shopping a pain.
Hi phil just had a look at docs to go which one 6.99 or 11.99 which seems to be the updated one with more on it!
-
Thanks for that I will look at them, I have been using dropbox to save photos in which I take with the I phone then can open in I pad and office pc which is great I can also store doc's as well. Just to try out on site I have been using notes with a simple set up with basic info client details phone number email etc, then I put in work requirements and price and email it to them there and then and the office at the same time so we have a record. I have to do this as e next client has to be put on the same sheet once I have taken of the first clients details! If that makes sence.
I am after the plan drawing side of things now.
The other free app that does not seem bad is evernote and I even found a app that will messure the height of a tree but only on the I phone I think for now, great if your doing reports or seeing what mewp would be best for the job.
Any more info would be great
Thanks wattle

Hi guys
We have brought a I pad instead of a laptop to use at home, want to use it at work when quoting and I am wondering if anyone knows of any apps that would be good for estimates site plans etc.

We use Bandits 150 LD's and it is the dogs bollocks. We sometimes reverse the chipper up to felled Poplar trees and put the butt into the hopper, stand back and let it do it business. I have to admit that if we do use another chipper I really miss the feed rollers of the Bandit. Only negative I have is sometimes its can be too big for some jobs, and it doesn't like Lawson Cypress much.
Hi Scottie, What timing I am looking at at the Bandit 90 at the moment with Mel
at Big chip, had one a fe years ago on demo and tried the 150 at his yard, the 150 to big and weight is an issue, however my concern is " the flywheel is at an angle to the feed rollers with a big gap and a lot of our work is Leyland and Lawson, cedar etc.. Will it clog!!!
Had a 65 on hire this week as have my own chipper breakdowns and my lads did not like it, even through the flywheel is not at a angle it is still a big gap and through most of the trimmings out of the bottom, so we had bin loads of small twigs and cuttings to load. Would hate to spend my 20,000 and it not chip conifer.
I know we should not compare the 65 to the 90 but nervous of buying a "yellow Elephant"
Also cant get a demo only has one new one in stock.
Cheers

No book but meet him a few times in the states and have some great posters sign by the great man

I had rescue kits in every lorry never got used and now in store cant bring myself to throw them the belts are like new.
I liked the idea and they where out on site all the time and i even went as far as the groundsman having to wear the belt and having a line in the tree on bigger trees.
If you can have two climbers then you dont need to as long as the kit is not locked away in the lorry with the keys in the climbers pocket has to be out and ready just in case.

i have been through this I always what to look my best in every part of my bussiness.
I turn up on time clean and tidy and in a clean van. so the client has the idea that you are a good company. Yes we have to talk the talk and they have to like you and your prices.
Vans / Lorries is a major part of this. Over the past 26 years I would not be able to say just how much work we have got from our lorrries, The quote seen your lorries we hear time and time again.
I used to have a little ex bt ford for running around quoting etc, very tidy and sign written. Won a job with a client nice house little cul de sac worth a bit of money. Quoted and got the work - Well a few weeks before we had a lorry stolen so just to keep us working a brought a old council tree gang leyland road runner looked horried ugly thing but started, tipped and worked. Sent my best to lads to do the job "The Client did belive that they worked for me turning up in a lorry like that as it did not fit with the image i put over" i had to go to site and talk him round!!!! The lads did the tree and client was delighted with them and the skill in taking down a big ash in a tight corner over his garage
So to some up Image counts if it is a little older lorry spend some money and tidy it up or invest as i belive it is an investment on something newer.

Hi guys
still Loooking must be some good lads out there.
Would also consider sub contracting the work to a small two man team with lorry and chipper, if your a little short of work. Lorries must be neat and tidy along with yourself, No sign writing work mainly in south london and kent.
Details as above
Cheers
