Hi I'm off to the Wales Tree climbing open in mid August and was wondering if anyone on arbtalk will be there?

Ahhh! ha! and Brian was taking the pee out of mine the other day, battle wagons they are, just dont expect to go up a hill in 3rd with 2 tons of mulch on, er make it 2nd actually mines a crew cab!

Hi David
to answer a few questions the canopy was only slightly stag headed in parts, a few dead branches but the leaf was late forming and one would presume from that early abcission also.
Only girdling what was seen in the shot and the stump is yet to be finished due to the fact that a series of six inch nails was hit on the first sink attempt and therefore was felled at chest height and from that point no obvious decay was present, heartwood intact as well as sapwood - suprised me, although to take it down closer to the FB would surely uncover a lot of white rot and will be sure to post the pics when I can.

This is a pic of a Perenniporia fraxinea on an infected ash which we took down on monday next to a golf course, I'm sure you'll agree its a bad boy bracket but does anyone have bigger.
By the way its not a competition and its only an ms 250

Ski goggles are a useful tool. I was stabbed by a frond after it slid down the pruning pole in Melborne went in the fleshy bit of my hand above the thumb and came out an inch further on - owch! They are nasty, i'd recommend dynamite , but personally I've never tried it lol!

Nice photos and good job there Dave.

Damn looks like i missed a good arguement there, I've lived in Cornwall for 31 years and I don't know where Harlyn bay is; then if it's past Bodmin its all a bit wild up there me ansums!

If you dont climb then its an ok groundsman wage but if you are operating mewp and leading a team then 75 - 80 is more like it.

He only did a couple of days for me and thats the last thing I'll say on the matter .............................. except I'll stick to the oompaa loompaas!
-
That was a Thor one aswell wasn't it Lee? Yeah I spoke to your missus I think, good advice as usual but the amount I'll be splitting probably about 20-30 loads per year is really not worth me spending too much and I don't have a tractor or room to keep one so i am limited to a petrol one which mostly only go up to about 13t tops, anything else will be sawn up by ateam of oompaa loompas

Marc that is a fine example of a reduction. I tend to be as particular but only use 200t and silky on most of mine. The felco 5's come out for epicormics.
