  1. By law I think the offender (that's you) are allowed to get your own quotes for the repair. Modern artificial grass is nothing more than green plastic carpet. I know this because I used to install the real stuff. Not quite the same scenario but recently my dad damaged a garden wall because he forgot to put the handbrake on, car rolled down the hill and hit the wall, owner got it fixed by a "mate" who was a painter and decorator (not a bricklayer), who the charged £1,400 for a repair which my dad was quoted £300 for. By law the offender must agree to the repair price before commencement of the said repair otherwise they are exonerated of the costs. Its designed to stop people exploiting such situations for financial gain.

Good advice,it's in 2 strips of 8mx4m joined,if you can't see the join surely you can't see a repair join

  2. Put my topper down on this surface last week, burnt 4 golf ball size holes in it,I took no payment for the job, customer now says he needs a whole 8mx4m section relaying, £1500,trying to pull my pants down I think,I can put it through PLI but surely it can be repaired? All burns within a square metre, anyone any experience of this? Thanks guys

  3. Maybeso but I don't remember a bad ride, seating was good for me and the door window height was lower and preferable to the P100. I live in the sunny south so heater was not a problem and I fitted a hitachi radio.

The fuel economy wasn't good at about 32mpg on diesel and probably around 20 mpg with a petrol one but it carried a full tonne and the lsd meant it wasn't bad on a track or with one wheel on a wet verge.

I was always led to believe they were rated at 2 ton payload in France, that's alot of onions

  4. That makes two of us then, especially with a direct injection engine if diesel.

Halcyonic spectacles!! Great workhorses but bouncy ride, crap heater, crap radio and crap for your back..........loved the 2 that I had though

  5. I find the above hard to believe I have a 51plate cabstar 30k on it when I got it 6 years ago got 63k on now pulls Ifor tipper about loaded and well loaded it had been looked after before I got it and looked after since apart from servicing (on a regular basis ie every 5-6k) its cost me 4 tyres 1 exhaust, 1 starter motor,1 battery and 2 front shockers over 6 years ,just been to Cardiff to collect a dumper in it on sat 496mls round trip 65-70mph worked out 33.8 to the gallon, so have i a shed load of money to spend on mine in the future,?.

I'm up to 200k miles not 63k!! Cheaper agreed, just long term costs,I can see both sides but wouldn't buy new

  6. Factor in downtime. The money I lost through having to cancel work due to vehicle breakdowns was far more than the cost of repairs itself. Having a reliable vehicle counts for a lot

Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

If it's your only vehicle good point,I run my old cabstar (no expense spared mechanically) a nissan 4wd and trailer and my family car (disco) is there for back up,all have tow bars so I have no down time

  7. I bought a nissan cabstar 7 years ago for 3k,it cost me £700 to get it straight,it's cost me nearly a grand on some mot''s and hardly anything on others,it's done 200k now and still going strong,it'll cost you the same IMO if you patch up an old one or finance a new one

  8. Hmm, interesting!

The blade has done about 200 cube since new so may be time for some tlc. Excuse my idiocy, but by re-tipping do you mean sharpening or do they literally put a new tip on the teeth?

I generally pay about 70 quid and the blade is fully re-tipped,I believe they used to be braised on but are now stuck on

  9. Why are you so fixated by this :confused1:

I would have expected decent suppliers to simply state how poor it is that he's been supplied such poor product and how they always produce good quality product and have happy customers.

Its been more a case of many alining themselves with the suppliers of the poor product and suggesting that KT is unreasonable for expecting better.

People suggesting he seasons his own:confused1: why? If logs are sold as seasoned or ready to burn thats what they should be, it not exactly rocket science. If you can't guarantee seasoned logs, sell them as unseasoned or "dry your own" its pretty simple.

Given the hostility on this thread I not surprised TK has not wanted to give his address and why should he.

"Decent" suppliers will sit back and say nothing, they have their round, their customer Base and their loyalty, they need not an Internet wind up merchant

  10. Use one as ground saw snedding for chipper. And nice and light up tree as well but it is a great all rounder

Ditto this,I had 2 and they were very reliable for a husky!

  11. Just wondering what it's worth, picked it up off a mate who's downsized house/garden.he bought it new (2008) still on original bar/chain/sprocket! If it's done more than 5 tanks I would be surprised.alot of time wasters on flea bay these days so not sure where to advertise it,arbtrader maybe, was thinking £250 as it's spotless?
