  1. All above advice is very good. Has it got the sensor/switch under the hopper like the tracked ones? If so check that. Also make sure that ignition is all the way on, if the one at work slips back slightly ours has similar symptoms to yours until you turn the key all the way round

Dug a old set of pulleys and length rope this afternoon  worked a treat hooked it high on ladder rack on trailer and sling on handle bar to pull square no effort at all, didn't even hold on to it just pulled rope.

A lot quicker then winch and cheap.

Have you tried standing in the trailer and with strop on the grinder head and pulling the grinder up that way, that’s how I find it easiest

  3. Sealskin socks are great, as are chainsaw boots for a year at least if they are looked after, I asked a few years back on here about boots when they stopped making the caterpillar Sheffield boots and was recommended the Dewalt titanium. They are very good boots, waterproof easy to keep clean and you can get them from Screwfix. Don’t confuse them with other Dewalt boots, these are nearly £100 and are waterproof. Very comfortable from the off too 👍

  4. Are the belts tightened/adjusted with an idler pulley? If so make sure you’re using mower belts that are designed to be tightened from the back (outside) of the belt as apposed to machine belts which run straight up and down through the v. These are cheaper and some mower sellers would put one on just to sell the machine. Also check that the pulleys are in line, so the belt is running true and bearings ok.

  5. I bought the red bulldog wheel clamp for my chipper, they seemed to have the best reviews. Make sure you get the correct size for your wheel. I also had a ground anchor and the heaviest hardened chain (£280 for 3metres and that was several years ago) I went through the anchor around the RSJ in the barn and through the drawbar and axel on chipper. It was a real pain in the arse but helped me sleep at night

Rats chewed away all of the rubber shroud over the spark plug on my blower. -Oh the delight of it rolling over my thigh, going at full chat. I thought I'd hit a wasp nest ( again!). Running around like a mad thing, until it zapped me again and I spotted the missing cover. Little bastards also ate the plastic handle of my 4' husky felling lever.

My grandad had an 011av  when I was younger and I remember the rats had chewed the spark plug boot/cable and I hadn’t noticed. Getting zapped is the worst feeling 🤣

Lay off the aggression boyo, I’m sure you are (rightly) upset about your chipper being pinched (a situation I have been in myself on a couple of occasions).
My ‘sad’ emoji was meant to show some camaraderie to you in your crappy situation, nothing more, and I’m not sure how you could take it any other way really?

Nige is a really nice guy, I’d be fuming if my chipper had been stolen!! Seriously hope it’s found for you mate
