  3. You could use a sling...girth hitched and use it as a foot hold while cutting
  4. watch Steve Bullmans sawpod video.....i thought i had seen some good climbers before but the fella's like a bloody monkey!!
  5. i had a similar thing last week.....I had been re-pollarding some large Willow trees and my customer received a letter from a nearby house claiming that we had damaged her fence.....there were 2 slats missing from a crappy 10+ year old larch lap panel.....and i know for certain that we didnt go anywhere near it....and also we were dropping all of the stems in one and they were 35ft long, and approx 6-8" diameter at 40ft up.....so with that drop and that size i told my customer that the fence would have been obliterated if we had hit it.....he just asked me to sort it out with the other house myself...back there to finish off next monday...any ideas lads??
  6. all of the above PLUS a first aid kit and a knife!!!
  7. Ha ha.......i couldnt agree more...although ashamed to admit i do have a 660
  8. 395....is a hell of a saw, the only thing that i would say the 066 has over it is that the chain brake is fixed both sides which makes it stronger....husky have made the new 390xp with the brake attached both sides though
  9. That made me laugh out loud!!! whats wrong with a butt plug?? stops my arsehole looking like a nutragrain bar when i get home from work!!
  10. did have a splitter....but also did a lot by hand too...i prefer an axe to a maul anyday
  11. I have coppiced acres of this...and agree that it is slow growing but is easy to split and burns very well
  12. This is rediculous!! people have too much time on their hands!!! whats wrong with a nice normal straight cut and on to the next job.....that looks bloody awful!!!
  13. how about a 390xp......a bit bigger than you want but is a hell of a saw.....either that or a 372xp...and remember the old saying: 'Stihl for farmers....Husky for profesionals'
  14. would be a bit of a sight to see a mother and pram walking down a slip road to such a fast road as the A12!!!
  15. Pitty not all tree firms have the same attitude as you mate
  16. Half inch less and your mother wudda named you "Fanny"??!!
  17. Yeah, i have heard that too....not that there was anything wrong with the old 346
  18. Ha Ha nah i was laughing at my groundie calling me all the c**ts under the sun for dropping another big limb!!
  19. I like all husky saws (except top handle) but if you are looking for a mid range saw i think that the 346/357xp are the best on the market
  20. Removal from today....last pic shows a whole quater of the trunk was rotten one side....the side of the expensive summerhouse!!
  21. HAHAHA couldnt agree more:sneaky2:
  22. Also depends where you are working, i did a lot of outdoor welding with a stick welder on farm machinery, and this would have been much harder with a mig in the wind
