  1. Shouldn't be a problem once he's had some mushrooms.
  2. Before my days of forum addiction David so never have taken photo's, now of course I am kicking myself. I will try to get some in the near future. It is out on Tuesday doing a 300 yards run of crownlifting H/chestnuts on the private estate where I shoot. Will be going up a hair raisng 25ft. But the machine can do a 70ft run without moving position. I can probably claim I have the only MEWP to have been shot. I used it once to raise a small auto clay trap to 60ft for some high bird clays when I was coaching some first time shots. One of them shot the clay before it came out of the trap Poor MEWP, it has seen some action.
  3. Stitching is suspect on Pfanners Stretch airs, I've had to restitch pockets. But I can't fault them other than that. Has anyone ever emailed Pfanner and told them?
  4. I'll bring my own then Can you bring a rope and show us how to climb a tree please mate??
  5. The 18 has to be one of the most versatile, I have had mine setup on steps and had it in places you would say were impossible to get a MEWP in. Mine however, can only be used where there is no risk of property damage because it has no test cert, because it has been involved in an accident. Wouldn't take much to put it right though. It needs a new basket which is over £2K for one and a bit of leg pin hole elongation repair. I still use it for private jobs away from public etc.
  6. only if you are trying to spread the load between two near together branches.
  7. Can people who know for definate they are coming PM Pete McSheffrey so he can get numbers for food. There will be roughly 12 locally Pete including me you and bob. Can always nip out to sainsbugs if we need more burgers.
  8. It was for an adrenalin rush. Some people jump out of planes. Some people bungee jump. This guy obviously likes swinging about in suspended baskets
  9. I can just picture you now Lee, running round the house trying to find those old phones and some corn.
  10. Just report it to tebay
  11. No worries Pete. Just as a matter of interest, Big'Ammer, it's rare to get to hire a Basket 18m without operator, simply because they are so complex, heavy and difficult to setup. They normally hire out the 15m which, if I remember right is self levelling and set's itself up and doesn't allow for error. Did you hire it without operator because it sounds like you have a bit of experience with them. There are so many things that can trip or you have to do things in a certain order, for example there's trip switches on the hinge of two of the legs which stops you putting them down if they are in the stowed position.
  12. Nice one Simon. I did a tree job which still shows the scars of my ignorance about 18 years ago, before any training or reading any books. The tree is very close to my house so I see it every day and have worked on it since. But this time I knew what I was doing, one would hope. Was done off ladders, no ropes and no PPE. Some nice tears, no undercuts the works and I thought I was the bee's knees at the time. Everyone started somewhere mate, good on you for the post, not many would have the bottle.
  13. With my limited knowledge of electronics, the eating of fuses is caused by not having a resistor inline to limit the flow of current. A resistor will only allow charge current through, so that when you tip, the tipping gear motor wont be able to drag massive ampage through the resistor.
  14. Just a bit confused with the last shot Ben. Which is the fungus Nice clear shots though mate, nice one
  15. Ha ah Not a bad line from you Dave, almost laughed at that one
  16. As long as the wind only blows from one direction they'll be fine
  17. Still looks to be a little more outreach left yet judging by the hose carrier ontop of the boom. It looks like it stopped you before full outreach because you had the legs on the middle setting ??
  18. Big 'Ammer, that picture was for a demo. But if you are tracking up anything really steep always put the basket at the rear, take the basket off, lift the boom a little and extend it out, that way if it tips backwards it sits onto the boom and can be pushed back up again. I knew straight away you have used one before, not many know about the little cheat valve Madmatt, It tows better with the lower profile tyres I have fitted but you have to get the weight smack on, I never go over 50 with it because it's smack on 3.5t and it can get a bit hair raising behind the landy. The landcruiser amazon plays with it though.
  19. They'll be dirt cheap then won't they Chris, I mean, it's only a bit of metal tube, trigger handle and a bit of old tubing??
  20. Just a bit of a warning or tip for you potentail tracked equipment hirers. Mewps especailly, are very very unstable sideways. They will climb 45 degress slopes even stairs but will tolerate very little sideway lean. The centre of gravity is very high. When tracking a MEWP where there is a slope always put the legs out on the downward slope a couple of inch off the floor, then if it does tip it just goes down onto the pads and you can then right it easily. A local tree surgeon hired a 15m tracked, he went off a shallow curb at 45 degree to the curb and the machine fell into the road. First pic is a demo of my MEWP coming out the barn, you can see by the upright poles there is very little slope. Normally it comes out no problem but today I placed a small log 3" infront of one track and ran over it. The machine is actually on balance point, I could push the top of the machine by hand and could have pushed it over. Notice I have the two legs out on the downward side, they needed to be a couple of inch off the floor but couldn't because of the log pile. The machine, if it had gone over would have sat on the leg pads and I could simply remove the log and push it back up. Second piccy is her safely on the trailer Third a typical setup. I do believe chippers have a similar problem of very little sideways slope tolerance, you would have to plan for that by placing thick scaffold boards under the downward track to make the chipper more level.
  21. Smells more like crap to me, elder is bad for it at certain times. "PS did check in the crotches for mouldy residues too" I check my crotch regular too Andy!!
  22. I think, given the choice, I would rather see a monolith with stubs
  23. No Steve, but I have heard of Psylocybe Cubensis tea. Or more commonly known as Magic mushroom Tea:sneaky2:
  24. Good tip mate, never thought of that one
