  1. When nearly all leaflets advertising treework, flagging and driveworks that are posted through doors have an irish accent answer the mobile number, it's not so much what someone thinks or getting off a high horse, it's called statistics
  2. I was going to do the CS47 but the instructor knew less than me. I have however got a certificate of competence but not NPTC
  3. Heyup Dave, Dave, oh and not forgetting Dave !!
  4. I did six years and one lasting memory was sitting on the front wheel of a bedford TM with the cab up working on the engine on excercise and I kept head butting the rocker cover falling asleep, we had been on the go for 3 days. Neigh lads, tha dunt know tha born nowadays If you've been a spanner in the army you will have worked in all kinds of conditions and shite, mucho respecto
  5. Hmmmm, it smells like model car racing. I'm going to give it some pasty with the 020 and in the blower. But the only downside is it is clear and really thick so you can't tell whether it's been mixed and you have to wash out your measure jug into your mix to get every drop. I'm going to go down and see them to see if they would be willing to put dye into it as they have a research and development lab on site Let you know how it goes in a few weeks Ed
  6. I have managed to source some Castor based two stroke oil which I am going to trial on my MS200. Castor based oils have a smell which I absolutely love, if you have ever been to a race meet you will know the smell I mean. Have be trying to get a source for a smell fix for ages and come across this from Millers Oils which is 1/4 mile down the road from me. It is a synthetic oil incorporating castor, designed for use in high revving two stroke race engines, jet ski's etc http://www.millersoils-online.co.uk/1_Millers_frame_MOTORSPORT.htm Just look under competition motorsports at KB2T two stroke for the specs Just going to mix some and try it for todays smell fix

I think the new caps are an IQ test
  8. I should explain to be clear: Get into the mewp, clip yourself in. go into the crown and put in your cambium saver and anchor in with your big rope. Come down in the basket to a level where the basket will be out of the way and pull yourself out of the basket on your big rope and release your basket anchor. This is not a method taught, but I personally cant see any sfaety issues. Do the job, back into the basket, anchor in and release and retrieve your main line
  9. It's called applied technique and our industry is one of the very few where we have the skill and equipment to carry out such a manouvre. I will never forget the look on the Small contracts managers face at the brewery where I work when I first applied this technique. If I'd only had a camera
  10. I would have used the SMT to gain access to the crown. Single Mewp Tech for multiple deadwooding. Just get out of the basket into the crown, do the job, back in and down, fresh as a daisy for the next
  11. Nearly 45 and easily still climbing, another ten years left in me yet.
  12. The damage that would do to the heels
  13. I was going to ask you how you went about tackling it from your earlier pics when I noticed the decay pockets. Always worth the investment having a bomb proof second anchor even if things are a little restrictive movement wise. I did exactly the same on the Ash with bad bacterial cankers I posted a while ago. You know your going for a big swing if your first does go but it gives you a little more confidence and it's surprising how much they do take when they're upright stems
  14. Lol, I'm not going to sleep tonight, I have this nasty image in my head, a bit like one of those tunes you hum all day and can't get it out of your head
  15. We were zeroing and I was pointing out each rounds mark. I pointed and walked back and heard him say something which I thought was "where?" It wasn't and as I pointed again he let another round go. It shattered the bone in my finger and the bullet lodged inbetween the bone and the pad in my finger. Being hard as nails and frightened to go to the hospital in case they asked awkward questions I got a butcheres knife, put a slit in the skin and dug out the bullet, I then got two lollipop sticks and splintered my finger and left it at that. It took weeks to heal and about six months before I could bend it properly, my trigger finger as well, I was devastated. That finger since, as won numerous pistol and rifle shooting comps at Bisley. Done it the world of good.
  16. It 30% of the leaf area. You have to count how many leaves are within 1 sq meter and then estimate the total square meter of the crown and times it by how many leaves you have counted this gives you how many leaves are on the tree. Say there are 100,000 leaves on the tree you would have to take off 30,000 for a 30% reduction. If you weigh the first one hundred you can then weigh the rest until you have your quota, it saves you counting every leaf
  17. Well I am dissapointed David, I did think you had impecable pedigree and matters of Lords and ladies would simpy slip off the end of your tongue
  18. I'd love to paintball them straight between the eyes at point blank, but it's catching them at it without spending hours and days hidden somewhere and you can bet your bottom dollar, for every one you catch there'll be another scumbag waiting in the wings to nick some more
  19. Leo 23gt has a part adjustable footprint, no flyjib and would be the one I would buy
  20. I haven't got the name of the shoot yet just know its in mid wales and I think it's a place called or near Newtown ??
  21. I thought the same till this aft. About a cubic metre gone over the weekend. Going to put the wildlife camera on the cherrypicker 30ft up, I think the batteries last a month on motion detect. I'm thinking along Treequips grenade theory
  22. The only near miss I had was the tip of the 020 ran up my sleeve and bounced off my ear muff. That was enough to wake me up
  23. Teupen are great and all safety features are basic, nothing too complex and fail to safe. Like I have said previously, the only downside of any tracked mewp for tree work imo would be a set leg footprint. I'm doing a graveyard job with my RQG18 and if it had a set leg config I would really struggle to get the legs in the spaces between headstones. I do like teupen though and BTW £30k would buy you an ex demo RQG18
