  1. Hold on fellas

Don't just use this to have a go at your employer

He/She has got a hell of a situation

Trying to keep you busy employed but all the time trying to confirm to updating legislation.

    It costs a fortune to

    a. pay for the ticket

    b. pay for you to have a doss 3-5 days getting the ticket

Do you not understand the expense.

At the end of the day

YOU have the ticket and the employer has nothing.

YOU can leave and seek employment elsewhere with a ticket that your current employer has paid for.

If you are being disruptive then can't you see that your employer thinks you will not stay with the firm. Why should he pay for your ticket

    Doh

    It's hard running a business

YOU have probably never done it so YOU don't understand. If you have done it and failed then don't start rocking the boat just because you've got a chip on your shoulder

Them and us.... it's a 2 way street

    Rant over...For now:sneaky2:

    you have some valid points,

i have a clause written into my contract that if i receive any training at an expense and leave the company with 2 years of said expense, i have to pay it back, so im not going to make a run for it,

YOU dont know what company i work for, therefore YOU have no idea of the companys income.

I dont have a "chip" on my shoulder, im merely after what i should have

  2. My question doesn't directly relate to the OPs question but, what if the employer took a vid of an employee performing a section fell(all above board and the employee knew about it etc) and kept it on file. Would that not be proof enough that they are competent rather than say removing a few branches on an NPTC assessment?

Surely it would prove competency if that's all the HSE are worried about etc.

I know I would prefer to see someone actually do the job in hand than rely on a ticket.

Just something I've thought about since many people seem to now want the tickets when in the 'old' days no one could be bothered going on the course and just wanted to get on with the job.:001_tongue:

that would be good if it could be done that way,

ive been told that i have to pay for damages if i break something, fair enough, but im not gona pay for something ive broke, doing a job i dont have the ticket for.

its all about blame these days, hence everyone wanting proof of tickets.

  3. to cut a long story short, ive stopped doing sectional dismantling at my work, ive asked many times for the correct nptc ticket and been told no.

so, what do i legally need to do my work??

    i have cs30, 31, 38 and 39.

im expected to do all aspects of tree work

i regularly get sent to dismantles, crown shaping and reduction, felling large trees, working from mewps, using a chipper ( tracked, tow along and tractor mounted ) tractor mounted winch, using pole saws, spraying pesticides and alot more, but that gives an idea of what im expected to do, without the qualifications to do it.

so, am i being an arse?? or do i have a point to say no, if i dont have the ticket??

i wil also add that ive been employed with the company i work for since feb 2008, so all this has been since then.

  6. thanks for your input garry :001_tongue:

were u working near dalry this morning? past some of your boys standing on a bridge looking at some trees :001_smile:

yup that was me, i was the intelligent looking one in the hi flex trousers and grey hoody :)

we were waiting on scottish power to turn the lines of, i sectioning the alder down at the bridge, the rest of the boys were over the other side limbing umpteen other trees and sectioning a dead elm

  7. what a thread, those of you guys with one a mog know what they are about, good for big jobs ,mine takes 3 hours to fill,it will take one huge row of cinifers in one!But full its pants off road ,if vosa are about then a mog is a tin of worms, but so can the iveco with 2 and a half ton on ,our mog gets work ,that may seem daft but its true, running costs are high ,and there are only a few people in the country that are a1 on them and expencive,if its your only outfit then down time is not good .i could go on all day

all true, im using our mog tomorrow, i can get what we need done in one load, if i was using a van it would be a good few loads, with nowhere local to dump the chip.

were lucky, one of out groundys used to have his own mog hire company, our mog came from him a few years back so he knows it inside out, if our mechanic cant fix it, kenny can

  8. our company has one, a m reg 1650 with a chip box and a rear mounted chipper,

the gaffer has just bought another two, both are 1200.

as said, great for arb work, but our 1650 has lots of problems and is in our workshop on a weakly basis

  9. i was thinking about one, changed my mind though, i bought a samsung b2100 extreme of ebay, its a cracking phone,

to prove to the guys i work with how tough it is i let them test it, it was thrown about, driven over with the van, put in a cup of tea, dropped in a 3 foot stream and left for 20mins and i dropped it 20 odd feet out a tree onto hardish grass.

after all that it still looks like new and works great
