been doing it for years, my advice is super dry wood, chopped pretty small, lit an hour before cooking - dense wood is best, hawthorne is my wood of choice!

hi all,
interesting comments on the morpho. We have a few butterfly harnesses we're just about to replace - used them for years and have only ever retired them, not worn them out! better the devil you know i think, unless someone who is familiar with both could comment to the contrary?

pigeons are vermin.... an outrage they are protected on the nest - as all nesting birds are, crows-n-all.
i know plenty of farmers who blow their nests out with shot guns, a discreet chipping seems a soft option by comparison:)

no words of wisdom, but if you find out the cause please pm me - i had 2 lombady's die in about 4 weeks, that i have to remove as they were 6 feet from a tenis court and we couldn't risk the H&S implications. The leaves discoloured, then died in a only a couple of weeks and fell off within 4.....
No sign of fruiting bodies and very limited potential for poisoning. bloody mystery?

i understand the nursery industry is trying to combat this outbreak - but what of contractors like me being part of the problem? who disinfects there machinery after contact with diseased trees, and how do you do it? last time i had to disinfect we used a fine spray methylated sprit disinfectant on the chipper. Any one who like to add to this method?
