    Heights

I was all ways scared of heights as a kid .. Have worked off 50m platforms for dead wellies and done a few big crane dismantles that the driver will extend the boom fully then take you right to the top before taking you over the crown and dropping you in.. That scares you the first few times then you don't really think about it afterwords.. Having a respect for heights is a good thing as it will keep you safer but the more you do the easier it gets... Have not had elvis legs up a tree for a long time!!
  2. Enjoyed that reg, a good friend of mine has been hooked up with a guy looking for climbers in Canada for heli logging, lots of big trees and they all involve knocking the tops out first.. They recon you should be averaging 15 a day but bearing in mind the only big trees I've felled are broad leaves and a couple of big spruces up in keilder I was wondering how I would cope with this.. Mind has been racing all week about widow makers from tops and just dealing with trees that are twice the size in the UK ... Your vids give a good insight , cheers for taking the time to post.
  3. Carbons are good ... Nice and comfy feel as good as spikes can imo
  4. Buy a Chain breaker and rivet spinner ..... Problem solved and making your own chains up if you start buying by the reel is far cheaper any how.
  5. Cheers cut 4 fun for sorting that.. Steve we will have to give a load of saws a run soon mate.
  6. Tell you what apart from the muppet attempt ...used it workin today ,560 dressing out and that for limbing and felling as the 372 is out of action and its stupidly quick ... Although thirsty!... Very thirsty!
  7. Well I tried ... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/kZhTeKBMI1k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  8. Yeah have been on board atleast 3 times when those old vermeers rolled... Ok as long as its not engine side.
  9. Time is money I guess, if you start taking on bigger jobs and you don't get them because your chipper is not going to save time that is worth thinking about .. The tw below the 150 is an good machine its light and fast and will take up to 5" an ideal compromise??
  10. Tw 150 have worked really well for me..Dont hire them out or let idiots use and they should last, I have used jensons and was not particularly excited about them.. Three of the lads I have had working for me now use them and hate them with a passion.. Maybe they should look after them better and they may chip better one lad sent me a pic of his 2 year old one a few months back !! http://
  11. Is it a fake though ? Like I pointed out earlier there are still country's producing these and 090's.
  12. They are still made in brazil apparently.
  13. It's a good fake though.
  14. I think I may try drilling the oiler hole out on the bar a few mm bigger and see if that makes a difference.. Has any one found it will over oil then not at all its sporadic and puts me off using it as much.
  15. Eddys right they end up on the pan... The only reason people buy stihl is because they see pros using them ... Quite frankly though build quality and performance is awful compared to machines I was buying from stihl 6 years ago this for me is the nail in the coffin ... Only stihl saws I'm running are 150's 200ts blowers and hedge cutters and when they go that's it, and judging on the performance longevity of some of the new kit I'm replacing it every 2-3 years as u was with my old stihl kir instead of 3-7 so I'm out ...
  16. It's a pruning saw .... Nothing else and its good at that ... Better with an 8mm hole drilled in the muffler though!
  17. Got a potato fork from one this morning for £3 , great for wood chip
  18. Low power and dime bar you won't go wrong with detail ... I had used a ms 200 that could be a bit snappy but now I'm using a ms 150 and detail is far more controlled.
  19. I do like g wagons but that thing is over kill! Some thing like this would be cool though.. http://
  20. I went in my local dealer ordered parts and paid for them for my main climbing saw , two weeks later they turn up in the mail... Kind of annoying when I used to be able to order on line and spares would arrive in days not weeks.
  21. Beech , hornbeam and hazel .... Yew burns great when dry ridiculously hot but its just seems a shame to burn it.
