  1. i remember reading about that incident
  2. yeah something like that.... most of my work at present is contract climbing, all i take off site if possible is firewood. private jobs i try get rid of the chip on the job, if not i price myself out of it more often than not. Been pulled twice for being overweight so have to play by the rules these days. Having a permanent chip box on my truck will reduce my payload to the point that a 3 cubic meter load of wood will send me overweight.
  3. soooooo..... one thing that always confuses me is when people climb up to the top of a tree, send down to the groundie for a rope, tie it on, then descend 20ft and knock it out. why not knock it out whilst you're at the top?
  4. you just watched the same vid i watched right?
  5. welcome to the forum mate.....not 100% sure on the answer but im guessing its like anything else.....everythings fine till you have an accident then the insurance companies will do everything they can do get out of it....im sure that would be somehting they'd look at
  6. Anna, the norwich comp is totally different to the ISA comps, its a more relaxed fun event. rope is pre-set, 1 climber each side of the tree, race to the top, run round hitting the targets then back down again. no emphasis on point scoring, just ring the bells quick as ya can!
  7. oh, and yes, im entering this year so you wont be alone!
  8. Jay, i havent done the climb but i did see it last year....its a straight forward climb, you wont have any problems with it at all. its set in to groups too so you will be climbing aloingside novices. bear in mind there are always people who enter these comps purely for the taking part......climbing times vary enormously...enter, it will do you good.
  9. you need a smaller spirit level numb nuts
  10. i dont want it to look tidy, it wont match my truck and might make me appear professional
  11. i suggest this will be your best option!
  12. I dont have a chip box on my truck nor intend to have one built as I dont often need one, on the odd occassion i do i get by. I have a job this week where it would be handy to get more chip on and want to knock up something cheap and easy to use. My idea is 3 sheets of ply cut to the same length(the width of the bulk head)and fixed together with hinges. very crude but at least they should stand up on their own whilst theres no chips holding them up. If anyone has any suggestions to make this better please let me know
  13. ed, im pretty sure when ben was telling me about this a few weeks back he said its a cut & drop job
  14. and for the less intelligent amongst us, ie me, maybe you could explain what the hell it means?
  15. told you the text on the banner wouldnt be clear enough for some people tony
  16. im going back to ball locks at capel. i wish they made them a little smaller though....maybe they do now, havent looked at their latest range.
  17. i believe the recommended krabs are the petzl OK oval krabs
