    Making the news today....

Well onceuponatime on the benzworld forum, a contributor(to who's unstated political opinions I had already taken a dislike) described herself, without an ironic intent whatsoever, as a; "member of the Liberal Elite". Which thankfully I was able to instantly quote, before she realized and attempted to edit her post. i.e. re-write history. Those kinda people worry me. And the EC bureaucracy is chock full of them, especially at the top. Doing what they absolutly know is in our best interests, & if only we would be docile it would be so much easier. mth

Each to their own. I take photos of every job I do. On this job the client was on holiday, his daughter rang me and asked if I could come over and see why the pumps weren't working. Those two capacitors cost me a tenner today, price for the whole job £280. It was a bit of a trek from home mind. I'd very much doubt there will be a disput about the price but if there is I can justify my price.

A sad state of affairs when self employed person rips another off. I always go to court, no matter what the circumstances. The one time i lost, i still got my money, just a different way, which i couldnt possibly mention on a public forum 😀

I'd want to kick off about it. In reality, I'd probably take the hit and not let myself get ripped off again.

Indeed. Get what money you can and give him the caravan club's number if he's got the front to book you in again.

Wether the client is a prick or not is irrelevant. What's the bloke got to go to court with? Any photos to allow the trees were similar size? Just got two stumps in his garden. No price was discussed or anything. I wouldn't waste my time and take my chances in court. Just put him on the blacklist and learn.

We never did get to the bottom of "we decided "it's" all the lefts fault" . Were you chatting to your conservative pals or was it a well represented group of people from both sides of the political divide? I'm only harking on because it seems to be in fitting with your style.

    Cookes 10 ton winch

@chopper brown bit of a thread revival, I need a tractor and winch for a couple of big oaks and a beech in the near future, did you ever get yours set up? I have been perving at Majors and Boughtons on ebay 😁

    a funny invention

I can’t see anyone buying that! Good idea but who want to drive to work then f*** about taking wheels off and putting tracks on? Especially when as said already it will likely dig in on the jockey wheel. I would have thought those wanting a tracked chipper would buy one that was designed that way in the first place!

People hate him because the media tells them so, and they don't leave their liberal bubble. Conservatives understand both ideological positions because we simply can't live in a bubble, even if we wanted to - we are force fed leftist liberal ideology 24-7 by the popular culture, the mainstream media and our friends. Liberals do not experience this, since their position is the establishment position, they feel perfectly justified staying in their echo chamber and never see the other side, except through the media filter. Now that conservatives have won political power in the states, half the population both there and here just can't get their heads around it. Conservatism had been pushed underground by the media, but it had not gone away, and came out in force at the voting booth. Like a famous sound bite of one shocked remainer, to paraphrase: "All those horrible people had been there the whole time!"

Take what he’s offering. The difference is a small price to pay for your lesson learnt.

I wouldn't be sucking it up, but I'm like that. It would be a final request for payment in full or off to the small claims court, Mr Sparky can do what he chooses with that. It sounds like he trying to pull a fast one, that doesn't sit well with me. Assuming it's a fair price for the work carried out the court will be on the OP's side every time, but I'd dare bet a cheque/payment arrives before it gets that far

Well whatever you think, the fella should of told his customer how much he wanted for the extra work before went ahead and did it.. its his own fault for being so daft.. If I'm not sure of how much to charge I just tell em we'll work it out afterwards and I'll be as reasonable as I can be... I take the chance that most people are decent and honest and will settle for what I end up charging them... Then again, by all accounts I'm pretty cheap on the whole... maybe thats why it works for me?..

But probably best to ask a stove retailer as they know everything.

Is please on a horse chestnut.

Bleeding canker of horse chestnut. The causal agent is now most often due to a bacterial pathogen, Pseudomonas syringae pv aesculi, and only very occasionally caused by Phytophthora as was originally thought.

Probably H/C bleeding canker https://www.forestresearch.gov.uk/tools-and-resources/pest-and-disease-resources/bleeding-canker-of-horse-chestnut/ Looks like the trees adapting well with the incremental strips up the stem.

    MS 362 issue

Hi. Can anyone help I've got a ms362. It starts, will rev ok, as soon as you introduce it to a piece of wood it struggles, if the wood is big enough it completely cuts out. I've not tried anything to rectify it except cleaning the air filter. (which wasn't bad). I'm putting it in on friday, just wondering if there is anything obvious/easy that l am missing? Thanks in advance

Imo you atleast need to recover your hourly costs, break it down, tell him he's right, you'll do it for your basic hourly rate "seeing as we were already there" 2 guys £40 ph x 1,5 hour = £120 + additional tipp fee off £18 .

That was suppose to read "id please" not "is please "
  27. Hard to see in pics but pretty slimy brown stuff oozing out the stem. Tree looks healthy enough in terms of leaf coverage etc.
