Fair deal on postage button...

The fair postage 'thing' has been a bugbear since we started selling online ie. someone wants to order something off the website - something small - but they live in N Ireland... So the website charges too much ££!

To hard to actually match weights and measures against destination...

So we now have a fair postage button where you the customer reduce the postage down to what you think is fair - bear in mind it is post and packing you pay for.

Only on Alaskan and Sugi sites at the moment but it will be on the new CSB site.

It is a difficult one which we have wrestled with on a couple of our websites. We ended up using the actual RM rate so that the Highlands and Islands would always be covered. The real difficulty in small items is now the physical size limitations now complicate what was a simple weight calculation; eg a 500g item costing a pound can add £4 to the postage if it is over 45cm in length. The couriers are now following suit (Hermes changed last Wednesday).

I thought your deduction button was a novel idea but would caution that very few people will be up to speed with the current complexities of parcel pricing.

Please let us know how you get on with this. :001_smile:

It has been on there for a few weeks now and we have not had a single person yet to 'abuse' it.

On the whole people just seem to knock a £ off or £2 if it's something like a sprocket etc.

The fact I ordered a 28" bar at 4.15 yesterday after the husky 1 fell apart and it was in my hand at 8am today ready to go back to work again is worth any sensible postage, cheers guy's.

Sent from my VF-795 using Arbtalk mobile app

Thanks - sometimes it can work that way but sometimes it doesn't but wither way we do try to get the stuff out fast!
