Its difficult to recommend certain brands or styles as PPE,believe it or not,is a very personal thing. Some might love a certain brand or style of trousers others may hate them because of the fit or style.

Best advice is to try on as many types as you can, trousers, gloves, helmets and boots and see what you feel comfortable in.

My recomendation is to find whats comfortable and doesnt cook your nuts, catch man glitter rub against your thights etc etc etc.

You'll be wearing these items all day in varying weather conditions so make wise choices.

Welcome to arbtalk and good luck mate stay safe

Thanks mate, appreciate the advice

Does the college have any pre arranged discounts or suppliers? It seems a bit odd that the college expects you to bring all your own kit on day one without any support?

Do they even have a kit list? Is it just ppe they expect you to have or saws etc?

Nah, they don't suggest any suppliers but they do have a kit list, they basically just want you to have trousers, boots and a helmet with the ear defenders and glasses on. They have all the saws and such at the college

When you come to pay, it's worth mentioning that you are a student at whichever college you are attending as some suppliers offer a discount for students. :001_smile:

Thanks mate, I'll try that. However I do have a farmer friend who reckons he can get some money off with his guy if I tell him what I need and then my dad also works in a similar field and gets some money off where he goes so I'll have to figure out which would be the best deal.

Don't forget to check you're NOT charged VAT (from memory, integrated helmet/ visor/ear duffs & boots should be exempt when bought for personal use - can't remember if it extends to trousers) but again, a search of the forum should bring up a thread or 2, it's all been talked out previously!!

There's a potential 20% saving straight off!
