No golds in athletics for the UK.

The other sports like BMX, track cycling, skateboarding, sailing and the like are pretty much due to the funding that’s put into them to keep the athletes and coaches funded.

I mean well done and everything, but don’t see many velodromes in Kenya do you?

The Sudanese are good sailors but are pretty busy being pirates to take time off to compete.

Anyway, 4th in the world. Amazing result and one the whole of the U.K. should be extremely proud of.

I found the very little of the Olympics I saw to be a bit of a bore to be honest ( although pleased we done well ) but as others have said a lot of the events are a bit silly now I think ..BMX , skateboarding , surfing , dressage , golf  etc etc ..I fact I really do not care for subjective / judged sports but prefer quantifiable events ...running , swimming ,weightlifting etc where the winner is proven not chosen !!  most of these sports are not participated in by most of the world anyway !!   wokeness is showing it's ugly head here as well ...

To be fair the Sudanese fisherman have become pirates as factory ships have cleared out their seas and taken their livelihoods away

I can feel myself getting drawn in when I know I should resist...... 😞

Whole thing bears very little interest for me.

The BMX story just about piqued an interest though - having been refused funding by what ever nameless QUANGO allocates funding to potential competitors, girl set up a gofundme page, raised her own cash and was first UK female gold medal winner - class act and with elements of ‘cool running’ back story. 👍🏻

Did you see the Modern Pentathlon?
Meant to be based on the skills and daily routine of a cavalry officer.

Mental!

Always thought of it as a made up event so that posh twats that are a little bit good at several disciplines, but entirely mediocre in any single one, have something to do rather than being left out completely.

I mean, if you can ride, shoot, fence and swim at even as low as a county level, and you can just about hold your own in the other elements, you’re just about guaranteed a punt at the UK team simply on the basis that East Ham comprehensive school probably doesn’t have fencing and rifle shooting on the syllabus (if it were opened up to stabbing with a shank and popping a cap in ur ass with a moody shooter.....) Well then you might see a more diverse selection pool 😂

I feel bad. I assumed you were a posh twat. Apologies if not. 👍
