True but as ever its the battle between protection and still having enough gaps for lights and this tractor has 6 lights on the front of the bonnet!

 

I wonder if something like industrial steel grate flooring could work? I was looking at some for trailer floors recently. Lots on ebay.

We have been using the soil screen mesh ,its super tough. 35mm squares with 6mm wire, still ok for lights and visibility. Needs very little support and welds easily. We have used weld mesh in the past but it falls apart.
