hi i hope someone can help . i recently brought a rayco rg 25 grinder wich is a non runner for an unknown reason.

it had no power when the key was turned so i put the jump leads on and it turns over but doesnt fire

while it was turning over i noticed sparks were coming from the drive belt cover.

a small piece of metal pokes through the cover which is attached to what i think is an electronic clutch.when the engine turns over the metal touches the guard and sparks. ive attached some pictures to see if anyone can see a problem as i dont know what it should look like

I think one of your belts has broken for starters, see in the second picture. Mine had twin V belts, yours has toothed, check it needs toothed.

I also think that electrical connector should be plugged in to the clutch, for that is what it is, or the other connector that is loose.

I sold mine a few years ago so cannot check.

Thanks for the quick replys , i had to unplug the connector to get the cover off and didnt plug it back in till after the picture it was connected when trying to start , the belt isnt broken its a differnt belt that goes behind . im thinking there is something missing off that piece of metal possibly some sort of insulator . hopefully someone has a similar machine to compare to .

Similar in design to my Danequip stumpy. As lmtrees said the bit of metal pokes through the casing to stop the clutch spinning.

Also as lmtrees said sparks suggest there is a bare wire touching somewhere and when the metal tongue touches the casing it's shorting out.
