Apart from how rudimentary the equipment was in 1959 this film shows how rushing headlong into increased food production after the war caused massive loss of habitat and probably led to recent flooding issues.

Lol! it's good to see them turn "worthless copses" into nice productive farmland with bulldozers and explosives.

 

It really is amazing how attitudes have changed. I'd assume in 1959 the memory of food rationing was still alive and they had a different attitude towards food production.

It looks like E Beaver and Sons of Kempshott are still trading. The attitudes have gone full circle, the narrator in the film says the word "scrub" when decribing coppice in the same way that many conservationists now say the words "softwood" or "conifer" :001_huh:

i love old archive film especially farming, ive never come across that video before so thanks for sharing it, i found it very interesting:thumbup:
