Damage to rotor bearings/ shaft

I purchased a tw150 second hand from a timberwolf dealer about 18 months ago. It made a horrible grinding noise as we finished chipping yesterday, and noticed the rotor bearing housing was smoking, so I took it to the nearest TW mechanic.

I've been told that it looks like the bearings were removed in the past with a gas torch rather than a press, and this has caused the damage to the rotor, and over time has broken the new bearings.

Is this something that the dealer I purchased from should have picked up on and rectified before selling me the woodchipper? What would be my best course of action?

Thanks

Hello Dom

The photos appear to show the nose shaft has not been fitted square which has damaged the rotor disc.

It is likely that the only person who would have known of this damage is the person who fitted the nose shaft as it would be hidden once the nose shaft is pressed fully home.

The selling dealer would not have known of this damage unless they fitted the nose shaft themselves.

I would suggest contacting the dealer and ask if they changed the nose shaft prior to sale.

Hope this assists
