Unfortunately saws wont be on as it will be far to expensive. With new chains and a full saftey kit for every hire.

 

I think its going to be about a month to get it all sorted and up and running.

Complete tosh imo! Hiring over buying comes down to cost & whether you can justify a big spend to how much you'll be using it. Kit has got to pay for itself. I think the hiring of big saws Is a good idea, for the folk who are just starting out & can't afford splashing out on the full gear.

There's a lot of people trying to run before they can walk in this industry.

If poor little Jonny can't afford a big boys saw perhaps he should try grafting till he can.

By then he might know how to use it properly as well.

Maybe so but this little Jonny can't justify an 88 sat in the lockup for most of the year. How often do you use yours big boy ?

No one really needs an 88 these days for domestic stuff. My biggest saw is a 461 on a 25 inch bar and can't see why I'd need bigger and you can buy one for approx 2-3 days takings. So i'd be inclined to agree saws should be bought if needed.

Never had one, I also think they're pretty redundant.

I've never had a tree I couldn't cope with with a 36" on my 660, and that bar stays in the lockup for months sometimes.

It wears a 25" mostly, and my 440 used to run that ok.

I get where you're coming from mate, but I can see a load of gardeners and farmers getting out of their depth pretty quickly if you hire a 121cc saw willy nilly.

Ay fair enough but there was a couple of times it would've been handy to have one. If your selling one for £300-450 ill bite your arm off! Sorry to hijack your post Jonesie, great idea
