7.5t Tipper - what's best?

Recommended Posts

Done a search and struggling to choose what to go for

Had heart set on a 2006 LF 45 with pal finger, but it was sold last sat and now searching again

On the Isle of Man, and have ruled out canter/Isuzu/cabstar due to the agro of getting parts here

So still leaning toward Daf lf45, merc, Iveco or MAN

A local truck mechanic said if possible get an older (pre 2002??) lf45 as they have don't have the euro 4 common rail and are more reliable and cheaper to maintain. Any merit in this?

I have no reason to not like the Iveco's, but just don't, unless someone can persuade me otherwise?

So Mercs and MAN? Any advice?

Budget up to 12K for right truck, and would prefer to get something as new as possible, but if older ones are more reliable, that gets my vote.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

I've just bought a LF45 so far so good,

mines the 170 I fear it maybe under powered

11 tonner though, as 7.5 with a crane is to much little pay load

See my Hgv Thread

I've always got on well with ivecos, there isn't much to choose between Iveco, man, merc and daf in the 7.5 tonne range.

I'm really tempted with a 7.5t truck it's just the vosa hassle that bothers me.

It's no bother, as long as you are used to maintaining kit anyway.

My kit is maintained no questions, it's just vosa, once they have you on there radar they can be utter runts.

You'll get less vosa hassle running an hgv than you will if you get pulled in an overloaded 3.5 tonner.

I haven't seen anyone from vosa in about 6 years, my ocs is good so I never get stopped.
