Vat killing me!

The idea of the flat rate was to put me on a level playing field with other non vat registered arb firms. I have found that i don't seem to win as much work as before vat registered but its not made that much of a difference as i was previously worried about.

I think that some folk just want work doing for nowt it does'nt matter if there's vat on top or not.

If you are doing domestic work, you'll never be on a level playing field with non VAT registered outfits- you have to charge 20% VAT to the customer and they dont.

You can discount what you charge the customer by the VAT you claim back but you will always have to charge some element of VAT that non registered outfits dont.
