The grumpy young fellow behind the John Deere counter begrudgingly gave me the 5% off £18.98 that I asked for. I took 4 x 5l cans. Initially he said no, but when I said "don't worry my friend I will go to Ernest doe who will give me 5%" , he changed his tune.

If he's grumpy (and young) now... what's he gonna be like when he's old?

cheers, steve

£21.79 for 5L at the nearest place!!👎👎👎

The profit margin on Aspen is a little low for dealers considering the logistics of storage etc, so there are some dealers who "mark up" the price to increase their margin.

This is a perfectly normal practice, but not one that I agree with. The RRP of Aspen 2 is £18.98 for 5litres (high enough as it is) and most dealers will sell at that price, but considering the low profit margin, please understand the reluctance to offer discount on small quantities.

Don't forget that we supply Aspen nationwide, which works out cheaper than a special trip just to get fuel.

I can understand that there is little profit in it.

From talking to the dealer that's sells for that price, I'm not sure why they don't sell at RRP as he told me Stihl are pushing it and every machine they sell 2 or 4 stroke goes out with it in the tank.

I still buy it for the hedge cutters as I don't use them much and it's worth it for no fumes in my face!

But for the strimmers £20 plus z day is too much!

I'm starting to see the appeal of having a battery saw (with plenty of spare batteries) for small felling and snedding.... alongside a bigger saw running Aspen.

cheers, steve

Been toying with the idea too but because of the vibrations, end of a hard day every joint, tendon & muscle in my hands & arms ache like a bitch...

That's not something I've thought about 'til now. Probably because I use a proper saw. :001_huh:

cheers, steve
