Thieving gits at it again!

Just turned up to the unit this morning to find the roller shutters flapping about. They have busted a padlock off a Very hefty gate at the entrance, then busted a padlock off what is supposed to be a ram raiding preventing barrier (scaffold running through a few welded up tubes etc. And then they must have 'carefully positioned' the rear of a van through the shutter doors. With the alarm going they must have wanted to be quick. All my saws are chained together and locked up which were still in a heap on the floor, one with a smashed handle as they must have tried to bust it off. The only thing I didn't have chained was a combi strimmer with a hedge cutter attachment so they got that.

And my mates had a 341 (I think) and a stihl stone cutter nicked.

Anything they could grab quickly by the looks of things. My rake has disappeared too!!! Maybe it was used to prop the van door open or something like that. Thankfully, we seem to have been very lucky and maybe the alarm did actually save the day. They probably got about £2K of stuff or nearly. Could have been more like £40K!! had they filled up and hooked the chipper up too.

Anyway, thought I'd post this so at least all my local chaps have a heads up because they might not really be after big stuff and just be grabbing as much small stuff that will shift quickly. They might be doing our area as Dean has mentioned a recent attempt. Might have to get a similar texting device.

Sorry to here that James

Just be careful now though, they have seen what you have got and may come back better prepared.

The text alarm came today "Datatool Snitcher", I'm not going to have any audible alarm, so they take their time and hang about.

I just need two micro switches one for each container and I'll fit it and sit back and wait.

I didn't mention before. We had a little visit a while ago, maybe 9 months to a year ago. One of the lads was in the unit sharpening saws. Roller doors were down but the side internal door was open, as in unlocked. Anyway, he heard a noise and thought it was me, but when he turned round there was a face peering round from the side of the truck. He shouted and the git legged it followed by another git with my 066 and 460 in hands. Anyway, the door was springing shut so he dropped them and legged it. Jumped in the back of a waiting white van. They got one MS260 from right under his nose. But they weren't chained up because he was in there and sharpening up so you just don't lock em up do you. Well we do now!! And thankfully so cos it obviously slowed them down, if it was the same lot again for their second run.

Just spent the day replacing the 2" runners down the roller doors with 4" runners and replacing the not so good padlocks with better ones. No work today, no money and spent a good few hundred quid so hopefully its tough enough now.

Where did you get it from Dean? I followed the link on your post but it just gives a dealer list. I take it you got yours mail order?

Got it on ebay at half the list price from this seller: bikersdiscountstoreltd

Really fast delivery, ordered it monday night and got it wednesday morning.

It will be extra peace of mind knowing I will get notified if there's an attempt and not have a nasty suprise one day
