Silky for Branches, Chainsaws for Limbs and bigger.

Also, does anyone else use their handsaw to finish off a chainsaw cut so they can hold it and avoid dropping the piece? So cut almost all the way then finish with silky instead of a 'three cut method'.

I’ve seen lots of good climbers do just that on video.

Never had a silky myself mind.

Tell you what - there's a hell of a lot of work for which a chainsaw is unnecessary!

Lets face it, you could buy half a dozen different models of saw and still cost a fraction of the price of a Chainsaw! Maybe I'm just too much of a kit junkie but I will say nothing beats the days pruning without the chainsaw trousers and boots or earmuffs and visor!

P.S. What's people's preference? Straight or Curvy?!

TBH, never really used a handsaw apart from my early days.

It is either chainsaw or kick it off for the vast majority of jobs, The odd time we use a handsaw/polesaw it is a very nice alternative.
