I dont use them any more they were the best things I ever used (same boots as Andymacp) but they did not live long had 3 one after the other, comfortable and light great working and climbing boots, but they all split in the same place just behind the steel to cap, DIY repairs did not work long sad, Hope the company reads this, and work on a solution, I would like to have a pair again. Boots for heroes, of course which we all are in tree work. Tried other boots still looking my forest boots are Andrews great sound as a pound but not for climbing with.

Believe me I tried, even quoting these acts, the woman was so rude and unhelpful. I will never use Buxtons again. I now have to sit in and wait for a courier to collect them from my house!!!

I take it you spoke to them on the phone?

Write to them quoting the Consumer Contracts regulations (formerly distance selling regulations. Tell them (not ask) that you will be returning the boots (registered mail) and that you expect a refund including the original postage cost within the correct time or you'll take the matter further. It may take up to a month to get your money as if what happened to me is anything to go by they'll wait until the very last day.

I e-mailed the company I was dealing with, not Buxtons by the way, every week advising them that they now had x amount of days left to issue the refund, never had a reply but did get the refund in the end.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you can return goods within a certain time period as long as you let the dealer know in writing regardless of whether there's a fault with the good or not.

All this is assuming you didn't buy the boots in person. You have 7 days from the date you received the goods to let the seller know. When you send the letter send it registered.

Consumer Contracts Regulations - Which?

From buxtons, I thought it would be easy but had the most difficult and awkward staff member saying it's not there problem and I have to go to Haix first for assessment before I can have a refund/ new pair. I'll just climb in my socks while I wait !

Hi ANDY how old are the BOOTS mate thanks Jon

I had a problem with haix boots which I bought from for f r Jones, they were just within the warranty. I sent an email with photo to f r Jones asking if they could help me. All they wanted was date of purchase and number from inside boots. a week later I had a new pair delivered free of charge. It's that simple.

Hi TREE I had the same with a pair of gloves I had off JUSTIN IN LESS THEN WEEK The makers looked at them and said replace them and I had them in less than a week great service that's what are use the dealers on this site thanks John

Haix used to be the best boots on the market. I bought several pairs over the years. They have cut the quality in the last 5 years or so. My last pair lasted 3 months before the sole fell off. Same happened to another climber I know. Don't buy em!:thumbdown:i
