like most things its probably what your used to. the jensen i used was a tracked hired one with quite a few hours on the clock. im sure if i used a new one for a while id get the hang of it. it seemed to feed so much better than the timberwolfs though. im looking forward to seeing one of your chippers in the flesh at some point. i take it that has a bar?;)

I'll put top or bottom bar depending on your preference. Even Buttons on a cetop valve, but I dont recomend them.

The flywheel on a Jensen is massive. I like the way they use 1" steel plate for the fans - Talk about a lot of rotational mass...

Im happy with timberwolf. There fairly bomb proof. Even my old 1997 ENTEC CH30DH runs perfect. The kubota engines are really reliable and the only major bit ive changed have been a new fly wheel (last yr the bearings went)and some splines went one of the hydralic rollers. Not bad considering it was a hire machine before I got it.

The narrow infeed on the T/W has always been my pet peeve. Never have I sworn as much at a machine as when trying to get it to take black/hawthorn thru in one. But no. It doesnt. It cant. cos as Ed says the infeed is just too tight. It bunches up at the infeed, try reversing it out, and it just sits there. Grab branch, impale hands, push, cajole, curse, try again!! What a pain in the butt. And its just about a simple thing like the angle of the doobrey at the wassname!! Those infernal machines have driven me mad .

On the other hand. I like the Premier (Schliesing). It does what it says on the tin. It chips, it crushes forks, it positively devours sh**ty thorns. It doesnt need its blades changing evry 5mins. Its fuel tank holds enough fuel for the day. Lovely machine.

Jensen, hmmm, once every nut, bolt and washer has had a drop of loctite applied, superb little chipper, definitely give the T/W a runfor its money, and IMO just that bit better as it hasnt got those tight angles at the infeed.

DOSKO=, but the good thing about these machines is they just love to eat conifer  Noisy, air-cooled, heavy behemoth, if you've tried this then anything else will seem like heaven to work with.
