very positive attitude mate, I would have felt the same, as they`ve (who ever) have turned me over twice in the past 20 yrs, if anything it makes you more vigilant and less careless, the amount of locks and cameras i have now I feel like a jailor! biggest set of keys ever,

its great that everybody is pulling together for you, I wish you a very happy xmas and hopefully they may even find it,,,good luck

Horrible to hear of yet another theft. Arborisk were brilliant with my claim earlier in the year when I had £6k worth of saws etc taken. The down side is my premiums went up a massive 50% at renewal because of the claim (even though I challenged the massive hike in price) so we end up paying for those robbing ba*****s in many ways.

I too was helped out by local arborists who loaned me kit until I sorted myself out. There are some good uns out there.

Sorry to hear of all the trauma and worry and inconvenience caused. I have been robbed several times and it actually was not the easily replaceable expensive items that annoyed so much as the wonderful old hand tools passed down from Grandfather etc that are irreplaceable.

I had a quick search on google and came up with these links about tagging equipment.

Electronic Tags - Materials, Technologies and Applications

I then wondered with all the "Find my Phone" technology out there, whether it would be worth actually buying a mobile phone and concealing it somewhere on a larger piece of valuable equipment.

Perhaps some of you out there know more about what is available.

Good to hear you are getting sorted. My brother in law ran a groundwork business and had so many Stihl saws and whacker plates stolen it was cheaper to replace them than pay the increased premium for claiming so he stopped paying and stood to it but it was a big hit when he had his mini digger stolen.

Sorry to hear of another theft.

Maybe when you get your replacements you could register them on Arbsafe? Might be good to have records of serial numbers etc.

The thing with Arbsafe is that IMO it will only work if a lot of people use and register their kit on there.

I heard of car thieves using cheap and simple to use key finder tracker apps to track where a car was kept overnight. They would see a car they fancy in the day then put a cheap key finder device on the axle then it would send its gps location to the thieves phone when he activated it. Surely it could be used for good also! Attach one to a chipper? Or I suppose get a purpose built tracker fitted to it. The only thing is its one thing finding it, its another thing getting it back! Preventing the loss in the first place is the best thing.
