My 2000 Kobelco sr20 mini digger has been a pig to start lately so I have been inquiring about sourcing new glow plugs, first stop my manual for engine code then the Local Kobelco dealer who said they cannot find any apart from somewhere in Katmandu .

Next stop a Yanmar dealer who was very helpful and found a set in the UK For £38 pound each !!!!!. I agreed has I had not tried to remove the old ones has machine in use and did not what to take them out and find new ones don't match . Any way new glow plugs arrive today in Yanmar original parts box with Ngk y103v which I can source on e-bay for £6 each in my home town for heaven's sake .

My argument these dealers both said they are old and near obsolete parts and will be expensive but apparently they are common has muck .

Should I have a whinge at the dealers for not trying a bit harder and they both had parts strip downs on computers .

Total price including deliver was £148 compared to £20 !!!

I went through the same with my chipper, I think they were around £30 each but the dealer said he had some none used second hand ones I could have for £17 each. Turned out when he sent them they were wrong, and then with a bit of fiddling I found out the battery leads were breaking down and it wasn't the plugs in the first place 😀
