Do any of you have some experiance of these methods and can give some pros and cons to each?

I don't want to back one or the other based on price, though my bosses will do just that.

Deep root fert decompacts all of the tree root zone and as it says on the tin ferts the trees at the same time, using specially formulated tree fertilsers, benefital bacteria and various benefital myccor fungi, and i'm in and out in no time which is reflected in the price.

Radial trenching, only decompacts at the most 20% of the tree root zone [much more than that and the tree is likely to blow over, as an Air-spade the tool used to radial trench ''seriously'' loosens soil] no tree fert is added, and you WILL be left with one hell of a mess. Also when radial trenching, the tree roots must be kept wet using hydrogel or at the least a hose and hessian sacks [more mess]

Radial tenching is usually sold by firms that haven't invested several thousands of £ss on a specialist deep root fert rig.

I can offer radial trenching if a client wants it, deep root fert, or decompaction using a specialist bit of kit that blasts in a jet of compressed air.

I see no worth in radial trenching, if a contractor does bring out the Air-spade at least do the job properly and vertical mulch..

Deep root fert link, what the author fails to mention is water/fert mix injected a high pressure also, decompacts the soil http://www.realgreenlawns.com/austin_tx_texas/treedeeprootfertilization.htm

I don't agree with the authors fert mix either, way too much nitrogen imo, but the link gives you the jist of things..
