What's the ground conditions like? Would something like a genie boom self propelled rough terrain boom do as quick to reposition, cheep over a long hire and can have very good reach.

Lots of the big hire companies have a good range of them ready to go.

Go bigger than you think you need

Using a picker on its edge for tree work can be frightening

 

Fully agree with this. If you are near the limit and start cutting and holding they constantly block the controls and beep all the time. Then you have to restart, its a pain.

 

They are so cheap so hire it is not a big cost, especially on a months work.

 

Also, if you are working off road with a site picker and get it stuck you are in big trouble, they are very heavy and pigs to move when they belly out.
