How have you older climbers changed your style in the last few years.

I never climb on a doubled line. I find it totally odd now. Gave my lads zig zag a go on a doubled line while we were doing some rescue practice the other day. The device is fine but I hated having to tend my slack and it's just so labour intensive.

Do you still switch at all Al?

I ddrt all the time still on smaller stuff.

I use DRT on very small trees sometimes and almost all Yew trees. Otherwise it's Stationary Rope all the way.

Its not that I need showing the ropes Benn, its all pretty straight forward really. I just don't think its a particularly good method of tree climbing at this point. I'm trying to prove myself wrong though :)

You've got to give srt working abit of time because if you've been ddrt for years all your muscle memory is gear up for that style , I've climbed ddrt since 97 then switched to srt nearly two years ago & hardly ever climb double now & when I do the rope tending gets on my nerves !! Try to climb the tree more like free climbing & when there's gaps climb the rope .. Think re-directs to gain great work positions you will see the light 🌈.

I have noticed a similar thing when occasionally climbing on a Prussik after a year of climbing on a zig zag. I get all muddled up for the first five minites

Witches live in yew trees, but they are powerless to attack drt, if you're on srt you get turned into a frog, learnt that at college, so it must be right.
