Staying away money?

What would you guys consider to be a fair amount over and above your normal working wage for staying away. On the assumption there is no traveling expenses or B+B as these would already be taken care of. You only have to take care of your own food.

£25-30 per night I wouldn't go lower than £20.

When I work away we get all our food paid for, continental breakfast, some sort of lunch and 2 course dinner and a couple of beers. So £20-30 sounds about right if you are paying for it yourself?

It would take a lot more than 20-30 quid a day to keep me away from my family.

But if I were single, party time.

When we stay away, I pay all food and beer and its an extra £50 per night away for Climbers.

there are 2 elements of this....

 

1 what do you need to cover food etc

2 what do you need to cover working away from family

 

for 1 i think £30 is ok (either as £30 cash payment or receipts for up to £30 to be refunded by the company)

 

for 2 it depends on the individual and how often, for young single people they will probably do it for nothing but if they have a young family they will probably want a bit extra....

When I first started lodging away 22 years ago I got b&b plus £25 at the end I was getting hotel plus breakfast plus £47.55 and a logging allowance of £250 a week.

It's not arb work but when I stay away with work its £15 overnight food allowance (receipted actuals) and that's it. It used to be £21 for food (no receipts required) and an extra £5 to cover incidentals (pint, paper, call home etc).

 

Try getting a decent meal for £15 nowadays. Oh - no alcohol allowed so the wetherspoons beer and a pint are frowned upon
