Money upfront for logs!!

We all know that firewood will be a winner this year. What I have started doing is selling people logs in advance i.e. they may want a delivery Nov time then another in Feb.

 

In the past I have always said call nearer the time. This year I am taking full payment upfront for a delivery that could be 2 months down the line.

 

Just thought I'd share this idea. I'm thinking next year these same people will probably do the same so I'll start a database and sell as many logs as possible in August. This should then do wonders for cashflow and it means when dropping logs off no leaving invoices if people are out and then having to chase money.

 

Not offering any discount for the above but people are still going for the idea in their thirst for dry logs.....

There's going to be a big demand. People are buying cheap saws and going mad at cutting logs themselves over here. If fact lidl has a sale on saws and a cheap sharpener this week, and they were queued up on monday morning to buy them, all sold in 10 mins!

I've taken quite a few prebooked already. Though I've not taken the money upfront as they're all from longtime loyal customers. Perhaps I should rethink things. Hmmm.

Its great that people are fronting up money for your logs mate! They must have been well chuffed the first time round!

 

Last year our yard was full of logs,nobody wanted them and paid us to take them off site.Been the total reverse this year,people are usually keeping the logs.Even the Connifer.

Are you not affraid that you sell more than you have? How do you work it all out..when you sell a load do you put them into a pre sold pile so you know what you have left?

Im surprised people are trusting enough to pay for something in full, months before they get it. I wouldnt!

All my logs are bagged and I know exactly how many I have... I no longer do loose loads so there is no double handling or chance of running out. I just tie a label on the bag handle to show who it is for.
