FC sites red carded straight away .

There was another guy killed in Scotland last week, surprised nobody has picked up on it on here. Only details released is tree landed on him.

I think you will find it does happen on real sites or you are walking.

It cost Buccleuch estates £130k a few years back...might be worth googling.

Interesting, sorry to hear of a death but not being morbid but would be interesting to know more details.

How come in large tree felling including fc sites I believe it's exeptable if not encouraged to have a wedge man present to assist in the felling of the trees?

Would also like to see a winch that can carry 60m of cable to keep it out the danger zone which for most of this site would have ment placing it off site.

One thing that makes our working a bit safer and far more efficient is being in open Mike contact so can talk through as working so everyone can be aware of what is going on.

You are wrong, it is not acceptable to have a wedging man on any site,..two tree lengths is two tree lengths.

If you are caught wedging for someone on FC sites its red card for fallers and site suspended. I know of it happening several times and foresters go as far as taking photo/video evidence.

There are plenty of wiches that carry 60m plus of rope, most of the ones I have had have been 100m, the alternative is use an extension rope.
