Can someone tell me why there are so many toolboxes made of aluminium tread plate?

Look....it's just my opinion but I think it looks a bit tacky...and wasn't it designed to be walked upon for gripping, hence "tread plate"

Or am I missing something?

It's called chequer or checker plate round here and most places I've ever bought it call it that. It doesn't mark up as quickly or a much as flat plate and if it does mark it doesn't show up as much. If you don't like the pattern ask them to build it inside out I've used it to make bash plates and various other items for vehicles.

It is also a tad stronger than flat plate, I feckin love the stuff😀. Those belly boxes are just wot I'm lookin for my chequer plated Landy but dimensions are not clear😔 LONG LIVE CHEQUER PLATE!!
