The rates for self drive diggers these days are obscene!!!!! For a day rate with a driver with the above rates Quoted you can get a week or more on self drive ! .

H&E yard is rammed with new machine's and in my vicinity we are spoilt for choice of Hire firms .

Thanks for all the replies , I'd kind of forgotten about this.

 

Apparently the rate agreed was £38 / hour. I think this includes fuel and VAT.

I agreed with Iveco kid, the rates for hire is crazy low if you shop around. I use Hewden for most of my hire and you can get a 1.5t for £130 a week, a 3cx for £310 and a 14t for £600. Annoyingly they just took their prices off their website recently.

You can also hire a chainsaw for £50 a week, tree surgery prices are crazy!

Oh ladders are cheap as chips too!!

But you cant Hire a chainsaw without a ticket (allegedly) but you can hire a 16ton digger without jackpoo .

A digger ticket doesn't mean anything, it just means you've jumped though the HSE hoops to get on site. Half the drivers you see on the building sites shouldn't be allowed a shovel let alone a digger to make a mess with and they still get paid. skilled drivers are few & far between in the south
