Wedding in wood request

I tried to arrange my wedding in a woodland about 10 years ago - but it wasn't permitted as at the time you could only get married in licensed venues as stated above.

 

I believe the law has changed again now though - so you may be able to apply for the necessary permits etc. Ask at your local registrar what the state of play is.

 

After that, its just a small matter of helping this couple organise their wedding!

Think only in Scotland can you get married outside

My brother got married last month in woods. But the registrar had to do a risk assessment for site and if they hadn't been happy they wouldn't have gotten permission

My friends got married in the same the wood they first went on a date in. Although they actually got married at the registry office first, then had their 'wedding' with a humanist minter and all guests etc in the woods.

 

If you are hiring the land out, i.e. asking for money for the service then you would be best advised to get public insurance etc. You may need to ask about walking ability of guests and if you need to create paths and seating areas.

 

Are they asking for the dinner and after party in the same place?

I think you'd find it less hassle and cheaper if they just all trespass there and you don't find out until later...

I've looked in to this a bit and its relatively easy to get a licence to have 'official' wedding in a wood in a wood but it means you HAVE to make it available to anyone as a venue. Insurance wise the small woods association provide block insurance for members, well worth joining. Personally, if they just want to jump the broom or point twigs at one another, I'd just let em get on with it!

 

See how many people want to pay whatever you want to charge though.
