Just twatted one today with a hedgecutter or the pole saw, not sure, whilst reducing an overgrown cotoneaster. The thing wasn't taut at all and draped through the shrubbery. Anyway, it's bloody shredded! What do these sorts of things cost?

Probably more than you've charged for today:sneaky2: Could you splice in a replacement length?

Mate, I wouldn't even know where to start. The customer wasn't in, so on the phone I just told her to keep me informed as to what happens. I didn't mention paying as, by my reckoning, she's as much to blame as I am. It was slack and completely camouflaged in her overgrown garden. And she could of told me it was there, but on the flip side, I should have done a better reccy.

Good luck with that!

Ha ha, agreed!

You could ask her to report the fault and say she did it herself, they might not charge.

On the repair side it's possible that it's just two copper wires, I did my own one with a hedge cutters, fixed it with a knife and some insulation tape.

Ha! Also I failed to mention that the fact it was cut was only brought to our attention when a police dog unit and two old bill with tasers turned up saying the alarm has been triggered. Obviously no break in had occurred so we all came to the conclusion that a wire had been cut... None of us could see it so every one went their own way. The customer rings an hour later telling me that the phone line is down. I went back to the job with my oppo and there it was, in tatters. So this particular phone line has about 6 cores and is linked to her burglar alarm. Happy days

Some hope there IME. Charging is what BT are good at. Charged me for not finding a fault causing a crackily line. Would have charged again except when they phoned to say the line was fine they found it difficult to hear because of the crackles. One engineer thought it might be water ingress somewhere, no idea how that could happen though.
